Ivan Hilgert is a former Czechoslovak slalom canoeist who competed from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. He won a bronze medal in the K-1 team event at the 1983 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Meran. [1]

Czechoslovakia, or Czecho-Slovakia, was a sovereign state in Central Europe that existed from October 1918, when it declared its independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, until its peaceful dissolution into the Czech Republic and Slovakia on 1 January 1993.

The 1983 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships were held in Meran, Italy under the auspices of International Canoe Federation for a record-tying third time, matching the record set by Spittal, Austria. It was the 18th edition. Meran hosted the event previously in 1953 and 1971. The mixed C2 event was discontinued and the program remained unchanged until the 2009 Championships.

His wife Marcela Hilgertová is also a former slalom canoeist and medalist from world championships. [2]

Marcela Hilgertová is a former Czechoslovak slalom canoeist who competed from the early 1980s to the early 1990s. She won two bronze medals in the K-1 team event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, earning them in 1983 and 1989.
