Iyana Halley (born January 27, 1993) is an American actress. She appeared in films True to the Game (2017) and its sequels, If Not Now, When? (2019), Dutch (2021), Licorice Pizza (2021) and Beast (2022).

Life and career

Halley was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City, [2] and began career appearing in television series Justice for All with Judge Cristina Perez , Tosh.0 , Family Time and The Mayor . In 2017 she made her big screen debut appearing in the drama film True to the Game , and later reprised her role in its sequels in 2020 and 2021. [3] [4] In 2018 she was featured in the final episode of HBO miniseries Sharp Objects and later co-starred in the drama film If Not Now, When? . [5] In 2019 she appeared in the miniseries I Am the Night and starred in an episode of HBO anthology series, Room 104 . [6] She also appeared in films The Hate U Give (2018), Nineteen Summers (2019), Dutch (2021), Between Forever (2021) and Licorice Pizza (2021).

In 2022, Halley played the leading role in the thriller film Wayward, [7] and starred opposite Idris Elba in the survival action horror film Beast . [8] [9] [10] It received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics and bombed on box-office. [11] [12] On television, she had recurring role in the NBC drama This Is Us , and guest-starred in two episodes on ABC comedy series Abbott Elementary as Sheryl Lee Ralph's character's daughter. In 2022 she guest-starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and later had recurring roles on Good Trouble and All American: Homecoming . In 2023 she starred in the BET+ miniseries, Angel . Also in 2023, Halley starred opposite Garcelle Beauvais in the Lifetime television film Black Girl Missing playing title part. [13] [14] [15] In 2024 she starred in the thriller film One Night Stay. The Other Black Girl is an American comedy drama mystery thriller television series based on the 2021 novel of the same name by Zakiya Dalila Harris. The series premiered on Hulu on September 13, 2023. It focuses on Nella Rogers, an editorial assistant at Wagner Books and the only Black woman working for the company until the hiring of Hazel-May McCall. Following the hiring of Hazel, strange occurrences lead to Nella discovering the truth about Wagner's disturbing history. The story addresses racism in the corporate world and is inspired by Harris' own experiences as an editor.
