J. E. T. Bowden (born September 14,1857) was an American politician. He served as the 24th and 31st preconsolidation mayor of Jacksonville,Florida from 1899-1901 and again from 1915-1917. He was born on September 14,1857. [1]
Jacksonville is a city located on the Atlantic coast of northeastern Florida,the most populous city proper in the state and the largest city by area in the contiguous United States as of 2020. It is the seat of Duval County,with which the City of Jacksonville consolidated in 1968.
Jacksonville Beach is a coastal resort city in Duval County,Florida,United States. It was incorporated on May 22,1907,as Pablo Beach,and would later change its name to Jacksonville Beach in 1925. The city is part of group of communities collectively referred to as the Jacksonville Beaches. These communities include Mayport,Atlantic Beach,Neptune Beach,and Ponte Vedra Beach. When the city of Jacksonville consolidated with Duval County in 1968,Jacksonville Beach,together with Atlantic Beach,Neptune Beach,and Baldwin,voted to retain their own municipal governments. As a result,citizens of Jacksonville Beach are also eligible to vote in mayoral election for the City of Jacksonville. As of the 2020 US census,Jacksonville Beach had a total population of 23,830.
The Gator Bowl is an annual college football bowl game held in Jacksonville,Florida,operated by Gator Bowl Sports. It has been held continuously since 1946,making it the sixth oldest college bowl,as well as the first one ever televised nationally. The game was originally played at Gator Bowl Stadium through the December 1993 game. The December 1994 game was played at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville after the namesake stadium was demolished to make way for a replacement venue,Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. That venue,now known as EverBank Stadium,has been home to the Gator Bowl since the January 1996 game.
Robert Cleckler Bowden was an American college football coach. Bowden coached the Florida State Seminoles of Florida State University (FSU) from 1976 to 2009 and is considered one of the greatest college football coaches of all time for his accomplishments with the Seminoles.

John Wellborn Martin was an American politician who served as the 24th Governor of Florida,from 1925 to 1929. He also served as Mayor of Jacksonville,Florida,from 1917 to 1923. Born in Plainfield in Marion County,Florida,Martin and his family moved to Jacksonville in 1899. Despite only about four years of formal education,he studied law and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1914. Three years later,Martin ran for Mayor of Jacksonville and easily defeated incumbent J. E. T. Bowden,becoming the city's youngest mayor at age 32. He was easily re-elected twice in landslide victories and served three consecutive terms.
