J. Holden was an English footballer who played in The Football League for Accrington. [1]

J Holden made his League and club debut, as a forward, on 8 September 1888 at Anfield, then home of Everton. Although Accrington lost the match 2–1, Holden scored Accrington's first ever League goal. J Holden played six of the 22 League matches Accrington played in season 1888–89 and scored four League goals. Holden played as a forward in a forward-line that scored three or more goals in a League match on three occasions. [2]

Herbert Lincoln "Harry" Fecitt (1864–1946) was an English footballer of the Victorian era. Born in Blackburn, he played for the Blackburn club King's Own F.C. from 1881–1882. He then joined Blackburn Rovers in 1882 for his first spell at the club. Fecitt scored on his debut (1884) 4 goals when Blackburn Rovers thrashed Rossendale 11–0 in a FA Cup 1st Round tie. Rovers got to the Final in 1885 and their opponents were. Fecitt was part of that team and Rovers won the match 2–0. He also played in the Rovers Cup winning side of 1886. In 1887 Fecitt left Rovers and played for Accrington FC for one season (1887-1888).

David Waugh was an English professional footballer who played as an inside forward. He played for Padiham before joining nearby Burnley in 1886. He made his competitive debut on 15 October 1887 in the club's 2–0 win against Darwen Old Wanderers in the first round of the FA Cup. He scored in his only other cup appearance for Burnley in the 2–3 loss to Accrington in the next round of the competition. He left Burnley to join Everton in July 1888.

Robert Brand was a Scottish footballer who played in the English Football League for Accrington and Derby County. He was born in Cambusnethan, a village on the edge of Wishaw in Scotland. Bob Brand first came to prominence, as a footballer, in 1886 when he signed for Queen of the South Wanderers. According to the Wikipedia article the season Brand joined and played for Queen of the South Wanderers was when they had a substantial Scottish Cup run and were investigated and suspended for having professional footballers. According to one source Bob Brand spent the 1887-88 season as a wanderer playing for Rangers, Hearts and back to Queen of the South Wanderers.

G. Owen was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Bolton Wanderers. He played in the inaugural Football League season of 1888–89 and played 7 matches and scored three goals. His debut was on 8 December 1888, at Leamington Road, Blackburn, then home of Blackburn Rovers. Owen replaced Davie Weir at centre-forward, the latter had moved to right-half. Within 8 minutes of the start Wanderers were 2–0 down and then got one back. As the half wore on both sides had chances to score but Wanderers got an equaliser to make it 2–2 at half-time. With the 2nd half under way again both teams could have taken the lead. However, Wanderers did get a grip on the match as they took a 4–2 lead. But Rovers, one of the best teams of 1888–89, came back and made it 4–4 at full-time. Owen's debut goal was scored on 22 December 1888 at Pike's Lane, Bolton, when the visitors were Accrington. The first half was tight and Wanderers' goal, to give them a 1–0 lead, was controversial, as Accrington players claimed the ball had gone over the bar, not under. Accrington equalised early in the second half, but then Wanderers ran away with it with Owen's debut goal completing the scoring at 4–1. Owen's last game of the season was on 5 March 1889. He made 3 appearances at inside left, 3 at outside left and 1 at centre forward. Wanderers finished the season in 5th place. Owen scored 3 goals and assisted Wanderers to score 63 goals in 22 games, the 3rd highest of the season. Owen only played the one season.

George Spink Fleming was a Scottish footballer. He was the first player to score for Everton in the Football League, scoring twice in a 2–1 win against Accrington on the competition's opening day.

William Barbour was a Scottish footballer who played in the English Football League for Accrington and Bury football clubs.
