J. Walter Green (born November 27,1964) is an American attorney who served as the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana from 2013 to 2017. [1] [2]
Pike County is a county on the eastern border of the U.S. state of Missouri,bounded by the Mississippi River. As of the 2020 census,the population was 17,587. Its county seat is Bowling Green. Its namesake was a city in middle Kentucky,a region from where many early migrants came. The county was organized December 14,1818,and named for explorer Zebulon Pike. The folksong "Sweet Betsy from Pike" is generally thought to be associated with Pike County,Missouri.

On March 10,2017,Jeff Sessions,who was appointed United States attorney general by President Donald Trump,requested the resignations of 46 United States attorneys. Some resignations were declined by Sessions or Trump. Media outlets described Sessions' move as abrupt and unexpected but not unprecedented. It is typical that when a new president enters office,many sitting U.S. attorneys depart on their own initiative before their term in office has concluded,or they are asked to resign. The other 47 U.S. attorney posts were either already vacant by the end of Barack Obama's administration or the incumbent U.S. attorney had resigned at the beginning of Trump's administration.
The Louisiana State Treasurer special election took place on October 14,2017,to elect the state treasurer of Louisiana,with a runoff election to be held on November 18,2017,if necessary. Incumbent Republican State Treasurer John Kennedy was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016. First Assistant Treasurer Ron Henson replaced Kennedy as treasurer,and served until the special election. Henson did not run in the special election.

Incumbent Governor John Bel Edwards was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third consecutive term in office. This race was one of two Democratic-held governorships up for election in 2023 in a state that voted for Donald Trump in 2020.

One state attorney general ran for reelection and won,while Democrat Jim Hood of Mississippi and Andy Beshear of Kentucky did not run for re-election to run for governor.
The 2022 New York Attorney General election was held on November 8,2022. Incumbent Democratic Attorney General Letitia James was eligible for re-election,however originally decided to run for Governor of New York in 2022. On December 9,2021,however,James suspended her gubernatorial campaign and announced that she would seek re-election as attorney general. Republicans nominated Michael Henry,an attorney from Queens. James defeated Henry by a margin of 9.2%,a massive underperformance from her 27.2% victory in 2018.
