East Pakistan was the eastern polity, established in 1955 under the One Unit Policy, renaming and restructuring the province as such from East Bengal, which, in modern times, is split between India and Bangladesh. Its land borders were with India and Burma, with a coastline on the Bay of Bengal. East Pakistanis were popularly known as "Pakistani Bengalis"; to distinguish this region from India's state West Bengal, East Pakistan was known as "Pakistani Bengal". The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a conservative, centre-right to right-wing political party in Bangladesh and one of the major political parties of Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi President Ziaur Rahman after the Presidential election of 1978, with a view of uniting the people with a nationalist ideology. Following Rahman's assassination in 1981, his widow, Khaleda Zia, had taken over leadership of the party and presided as Chairperson until her imprisonment in 2018. Since her imprisonment, Tarique Rahman, the son of late president Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia, has been serving as the acting Chairperson and has run the affairs of the party from London.

Manikganj is a district in central Bangladesh. It is a part of the Dhaka Division, In 1845 AD it was at first declared as a sub-division. It was at first, under Faridpur district then it was included under Dhaka district in 1956 for the administrative purposes. In 1984 Manikganj was declared as a full district.
