Jack Metcalf (born 25 December 1991) is an English former professional footballer.

Career

College and amateur

Metcalf played with Liverpool and Wolves at youth level, [1] before playing as an amateur while studying at Clemson University in the USA between 2010 and 2013. [2]

Professional career

After trialling with several clubs in England, Metcalf signed with United Soccer League club Charlotte Independence in February 2015. [3] In January 2017, Metcalf signed for Welsh club Bangor City. [4] Following the 2022 season, Metcalf retired from playing professional football. [5]

He began his career playing on the winning side of the Liverpool FA Youth Cup in 2006 and played competitively for Liverpool from 2008 to 2012. Darby then joined the Bradford team that reached the 2013 Football League Cup final, making over 200 appearances for the club and captaining the side for two seasons. Although he afterwards signed a two-year contract with Bolton Wanderers in 2017, Darby retired from his career just over a year later at the age of 29 after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
