Jack Morrell (born September 16, 1955) was a light welterweight boxer. He ended his career with a record of 19-7-2. He was once a championship hopeful out of Lowell, Massachusetts. He had fought some contenders in Marlon Starling and Kevin Rooney. His son, John Morrell, is the nephew of "Irish" Micky Ward. His name is briefly mentioned in the book Irish Thunder: The Hard Life and Times of Micky Ward.

21 is a 2008 American heist drama film directed by Robert Luketic and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. The film is inspired by the story of the MIT Blackjack Team as told in Bringing Down the House, the best-selling 2003 book by Ben Mezrich. IMDb offers a brief summary of the film: "21 is about six MIT students who become trained to be experts in card counting in Black Jack and subsequently took Las Vegas casinos for millions in winnings." The film stars Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey, Laurence Fishburne, Kate Bosworth, Liza Lapira, Jacob Pitts, Aaron Yoo, and Kieu Chinh. 21 was a box office success and was the number one film in the United States and Canada during its first and second weekends of release, despite some mixed reviews.

Known as "The Pride of Lowell", he held the USA New England welterweight title twice between 1979 and 1983. He is the half-brother and former trainer of former WBU champion Micky Ward. The 2010 biopic The Fighter is based on the two brothers' fall and rise to the boxing title.

The film was inspired by the 1995 documentary that features the Eklund-Ward family, titled High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell.

Ward was portrayed by Mark Wahlberg in the 2010 film The Fighter, which was based on his early career.
