The Jacksonville State Gamecocks men's basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. JSU is a member of Conference USA. The Gamecocks are coached by Ray Harper. [2] During their time as a member of Division II, they were national champions in 1985.
In 2017, Jacksonville State won the OVC championship and made its first appearance in the Division I tournament.

The Gamecocks have appeared in the NCAA Division I tournament two times. Their record is 0–2. Due to Bellarmine winning the 2022 ASUN tournament and still being in transition to Division I, Jacksonville State received the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as regular season champions.

The Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball program is a college basketball team that represents the University of Nevada, Reno. The team is currently a member of the Mountain West Conference, which is a Division I conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The program began in 1913 and has won 23 regular season conference championships and five conference tournament championships. Nevada won a CBI Title in 2016 vs. Morehead State 2–1 in the series.

The Wright State Raiders men's basketball is the men's college basketball team that represents Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio. The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks men's basketball team represents Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, United States. The Denver Pioneers men's basketball team represents the University of Denver and competes in the NCAA Division I men's college basketball in Denver, Colorado. The Norfolk State Spartans men's basketball team represents Norfolk State University, located in Norfolk, Virginia, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. They currently compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. The Spartans are currently coached by Robert Jones and play their home games at the Joseph G. Echols Memorial Hall (7,000). The Spartans men's basketball team is best known for defeating the #2 seeded Missouri in the 2012 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament 86–84, the first tournament appearance for Norfolk State. It was only the fifth time that a 15th seed has defeated a 2nd seed. Norfolk State has qualified for the NCAA tournament at the Division I level three times, in 2012, 2021, and 2022.
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks women's basketball team represents Jacksonville State University (JSU), located in Jacksonville, Alabama, in NCAA Division I women's basketball. The Gamecocks compete as members of Conference USA.
William Edwin Jones is an American retired college basketball head coach. He guided the Jacksonville State University men's basketball team to the 1985 NCAA Division II national championship. That year, the Gamecocks lost their first game of the season but then went on to win 31 consecutive games to claim the national title. They went 16–0 in Gulf South Conference play en route to the school-record 31–1 mark. In his career at Jacksonville State, he guided them to 8 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and 6 Gulf South championships. Jones oversaw the program's transition from Division II to Division I in the 1995–96 season when they joined the Trans America Athletic Conference.
