James Green (born July 8, 1960) is an American basketball coach. He is the head men's basketball coach at Meridian Community College in Meridian, Mississippi, a position he has held since 2016. Green served as head men's basketball coach at the University of Southern Mississippi from 1996 to 2004, Mississippi Valley State University from 2005 to 2008, and Jacksonville State University from 2008 to 2016.

College coaching career

Green has held posts as assistant coach at the University of Idaho, Texas A&M University-College Station, University of Alabama and Iowa State University. [1] In 1996, he moved on to the poisiton of head coach at The University of Southern Mississippi and later Mississippi Valley State University. [2]

Jacksonville State

Green interviewed for the head coaching vacancy left by the non-renewal of head coach, Mike LaPlante, on April 18, 2008 in Jacksonville, Alabama. He took over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks men's basketball program, which that had lost 20 or more games in three of the previous four seasons and expected to take a slight hit due to scholarship reduction because of APR Standards not being met. Green was the first black head coach of a major sport at Jacksonville State University. [3]

Prior to that JSU played in the OVC. The Gamecocks are currently led by head coach Jana McGinnis. Coach McGinnis played basketball at JSU from 1987-1990. Jim Case is an American college baseball coach who formerly served as head coach of the Jacksonville State Gamecocks baseball team. He held that position from 2002 until his retirement in 2023. He played at Louisiana Tech, earning all-conference honors as a catcher before serving as a student assistant coach for one season while completing his undergraduate degree. He then became an assistant at Mississippi State where he completed a master's degree before moving to UAB. After ten years, he returned to Mississippi State for a second stint before earning his first head coaching job at Jacksonville State.

Mike Williams is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Jacksonville State University from 1997 to his resignation in 1999, and compiled a record of 9–17. Williams was also an assistant coach at the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Tennessee at Martin, as well as the head football coach at several Alabama high schools during the 1980s.
