Andre Payne is an American college basketball coach who previously served as the head coach of the Mississippi Valley State men's team. [1] [2]

Coaching career

Payne got his coaching start at Texas College as an assistant until 2001, when he was elevated to the head coaching position. He stayed in that role until 2006 when he accepted the head coaching and athletics director position at Wiley College, where he led the team to two Red River Athletic Conference tournament titles.

On July 11, 2014 Payne accepted the head coaching position at Mississippi Valley State. [3]

On March 25, 2019, Payne was fired after just winning 31 games overall in 5 seasons at MVSU. [4]

Archie Cooley, who was the head coach at MVSU from 1980 to 1986, was the architect of the pass-oriented offense that utilized the skills of Totten. Totten served as the head football coach at Mississippi Valley State from 2002 to 2009.

Kenneth Victor Payne is an American professional basketball coach and former player who serves as assistant coach for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). A 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) and 195 lb (88 kg) small forward, Payne played college basketball at the University of Louisville and was a member of Louisville's 1986 NCAA championship squad. He was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 19th pick of the 1989 NBA draft where he was booed by a gathering of fans.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers are the athletic teams that represent Western Kentucky University (WKU). The 2018–19 Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils basketball team represented Mississippi Valley State University in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Delta Devils were led by fifth-year head coach Andre Payne, and played their home games at the Harrison HPER Complex in Itta Bena, Mississippi as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 6–26 overall, 4–14 in SWAC play to finish in a tie for ninth place. They failed to qualify for the 2019 SWAC Tournament, as only the top eight teams are eligible to participate.

2019–20 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference mens basketball season Sports season

The 2019–20 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's basketball season began with practices in October 2019, followed by the start of the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play started in January and will conclude March 14, 2020. This season was the 39th season of MAAC basketball.
