Jafar is a fictional character and the main antagonist in Walt Disney Pictures' 31st animated feature film Aladdin (1992). He is voiced by Jonathan Freeman,who also portrayed the character in the Broadway musical adaptation. Jafar also appears in the 1994 sequel to Aladdin,but he is not in the 1996 third film or the TV series.

The Battle of Plassey was a decisive victory of the British East India Company,under the leadership of Robert Clive,over the Nawab of Bengal and his French allies on 23 June 1757. The victory was made possible by the defection of Mir Jafar,Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah's commander in chief. The battle helped the British East India Company take control of Bengal in 1772.
