Punjabi cinema, popularly known as Pollywood, refers to the Punjabi-language film industry centered around the Indian state of Punjab, and based in Amritsar and Mohali.
Gurpreet Singh Waraich, commonly known as Gurpreet Ghuggi, is an Indian actor, comedian and politician. He is known for his works in Punjabi and Hindi films. Ghuggi began his career by acting in theatre in the early 1990s, after which he had recurring roles in television series such as Ronak Mela and the soap opera Parchhaven. The trailer of the film was released on 18 May 2015. Sardaar Ji is one of the first fantasy films to be made in Punjabi cinema. It released on 26 June 2015, and had the biggest opening ever for a Punjabi film in Punjab.

Mar Gaye Oye Loko is a 2018 Indian-Punjabi language Comedy film directed by Simerjit Singh starring Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon & Sapna Pabbi in lead roles. It is a Punjabi comedy about a simple boy, Tittu, and his journey to finally marry the girl of his dreams, Simran. She in turn happens to be interested in the local gangster, Gill Baiji. Gill Baiji gets shot by his arch rival Sidhu and this event changes Tittu's fate forever. The film has Jaswinder Bhalla, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, B.N. Sharma and Jaggi Singh in supporting roles; it marked the Punjabi debut for Sapna Pabbi.
Kala Shah Kala is a 2019 Indian Punjabi-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Amarjit Singh. The film is produced by Infantry Pictures and Naughty Men Productions in association with Dreamityata Entertainment. It stars Binnu Dhillon, Sargun Mehta, and Jordan Sandhu, and follows the story of Lovely, a happy and charming guy who struggles to find the love of his life because of his dark complexion. It was scheduled to release on 15 March 2019, but opened early on 14 February 2019. It opened to positive reviews and became a commercial success, earning over ₹19 crore worldwide. It is the 21st highest grossing Punjabi film.
Bhangra Paa Le is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film, directed by debutant Sneha Taurani and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. It stars Sunny Kaushal and Rukshar Dhillon. Initially planned to release on 13 September 2019 and then 1 November 2019, it was theatrically released in India on 3 January 2020.

Babe Bhangra Paunde Ne is an Indian Punjabi comedy film directed by Amarjit Singh Saron. It stars Diljit Dosanjh, Sargun Mehta and Sohail Ahmed with Gurpreet Bhangu, Jassica Gill and Bhavkhandan Singh Rakhra in supporting roles. The film depicts the story of three friends who try to adopt an orphaned old man in order to swindle him of his insurance money and become rich.
