Jaime Vondel Hill (born July 1963) (pronounced High-may) is an American football coach. He formerly held the position of defensive coordinator for the BYU Cougars in Provo, Utah between 2006 and 2010.
Hill went to Santana High School in San Diego, where he was member of the varsity track team and participated in 440-yard dash competition. [1] He later went on playing at Grossmont College (former JuCo) from 1982 to 83, earning him Academic All-American and first-team all-league performer. He then played as wide receiver for the Gators at San Francisco State University in 1984 and 1985, being a first team all-conference member. [2]
His coaching career started at his alma mater San Francisco State University in 1987 as student assistant wide receivers and later graduate assistant at UTEP in 1988. [2]
In 1989 he became assistant coach for wide receivers and tight ends at Northern Arizona University for the Lumberjacks, being his first professional coaching job. From 1990 to 1991 he was changing to the defensive side and became defensive assistant for the secondary at Sonoma State University and further defensive coordinator at University of Chicago in 1992. His first longer stint as coach was from 1993 to 1996 at Portland State University as defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator. He was member of the NFL Bill Walsh coaching fellowship in 1992 and 1994.
Hills first job in the NFL came with the San Francisco 49ers from 1997 to 1999, first as defensive quality control and later as defensive assistant for the secondary. There, he appeared in two NFL Divisional Round play-off games and has an overall regular season record of 34–14 and play-off record of 2–2. [3] From 2000 to 2001 he stayed in San Francisco and became secondary coach of the San Francisco Demons in the original XFL, reaching the XFL championship game but lost the Million Dollar Game against Los Angeles.
He then changed back to college football in taking the job as defensive coordinator from 2002 to 2003 for the Humboldt State University and after that going in to the CFL as the Calgary Stampeders secondary coach from '03 to '04 and Ottawa Renegades as co-defensive coordinator from '04 to '06. Later he served as defensive coordinator for the BYU Cougars football team in 2006. Following a 1–4 start to the 2010 season, BYU fired Jaime on October 2, 2010. [4] [5] In the 13/14 season he coached again for the Portland State Vikings [6] and from 2014 to 2018 for the formerly known SFU Clan at Simon Fraser University in Canada. [7]
He formerly served as head coach at São Paulo Storm (Brazil) between 2019 and 2020. [8]
From 2021 until 2023, Hill was the head coach of the Fehérvár Enthroners, located near Budapest, Hungary. In his first two seasons, they played in the national league Hungarian American Football League (HFL) winning the league championship in 2022, and beginning with the 2023 season in the European League of Football. Hill was married to LaShanda Hill and has two daughters and one son. [10] He holds bachelor's degree from University of Texas at El Paso in psychology and a teaching certificate from California Community College in 1990. [11]
Michael Joseph Riley is an American football coach who was most recently the head coach of the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League (USFL). He has previously served as the head coach of two college football programs: Oregon State and Nebraska (2015–2017). Riley has also been the head coach of teams in four different professional leagues: the Canadian Football League (CFL), World League of American Football (WLAF), National Football League (NFL), and Alliance of American Football (AAF). He played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 1970s.
Raymond Earl Rhodes is a former American football player and coach. Rhodes played wide receiver and cornerback for the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers. He served as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL), as well as the former assistant defensive backs coach of the Houston Texans. He earned five Super Bowl rings as an assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers, and was named Coach of the Year by the Associated Press in 1995, his first season as Eagles head coach. He last served as the senior defensive assistant for the Cleveland Browns.
Norman Yew Heen Chow is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head coach for the Helvetic Guards in the European League of Football (ELF). He was the head football coach at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a position he held from December 2011 until November 2015 and previously held the offensive coordinator position for the Utah Utes, UCLA Bruins, the NFL's Tennessee Titans, USC Trojans, NC State Wolfpack, and BYU Cougars.
Chris Palmer is an American former football coach and college athletics administrator. Palmer served as the head coach for Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL) from 1999 to 2000 and in the same capacity with the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League (UFL) in 2010. He was the head football coach at the University of New Haven from 1986 to 1987 and at Boston University from 1988 to 1989. Palmer has also served as an assistant coach with the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Oilers, Tennessee Titans and the Buffalo Bills of the NFL. He later returned to the University of New Haven and served as the athletic director from 2018 to 2019.
Justin Peato Ena is an American football coach and former linebacker who is currently the linebackers coach at Brigham Young University football. He played college football at BYU and in the National Football League for the Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans.
Robert Hollway was an American football player and coach. He played college football for the University of Michigan and was a member of Michigan's undefeated 1947 and 1948 teams. He thereafter served as an assistant at the University of Maine (1951–1952), Eastern Michigan University (1953), Michigan (1954–1965) before joining the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, as the head coach of the National Football League (NFL)'s St. Louis Cardinals (1971–1972), and assistant coaching stints with the Detroit Lions (1973–1974), San Francisco 49ers (1975), and Seattle Seahawks (1976–1977).
Marc Bronco Clay Mendenhall is an American football coach for the University of New Mexico (UNM) Lobos in Albuquerque. He previously coached at the University of Virginia. He stepped down after the 2021 season. Mendenhall joined Virginia in 2015 after spending the previous eleven seasons as the head football coach at Brigham Young University (BYU). He has a career record of 135 victories and 81 losses and has recorded fourteen postseason bowl game appearances with seven victories.
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors football team represents the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in NCAA Division I FBS college football. It was part of the Western Athletic Conference until July 2012, when the team joined the Mountain West Conference. From 2000 until 2013, the team was known simply as the Warriors. The 2023 BYU Cougars football team represented Brigham Young University (BYU) as a member of the Big 12 Conference during the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Cougars were led by eighth-year head coach Kalani Sitake and played their home games at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The season was the first year that BYU competed in the Big 12.
