Jaime Molera (born March 31,1968) is an American politician/businessman who served as the 18th Superintendent of Public Instruction for the state of Arizona,appointed by Governor Jane Hull to replace Lisa Graham Keegan,and served from 2001 to 2003.
Molera was born and raised in Nogales,Arizona and received his bachelor's degree in communications from Arizona State University. [1]
He served as the education adviser and chief of policy for Governor Hull and as the director of policy for Lisa Keegan,his predecessor as Superintendent. Molera was defeated by Tom Horne in the 2002 Republican primary. [2] Molera served as president of the Arizona State Board of Education under Governor Jan Brewer from 2011 until 2013. [3] Molera now works as a partner with Molera Alvarez,LLC (a government relations/lobbying firm) and CoNecs,N.A. (a marketing/advertising company). [4]
Jane Dee Hull was an American politician and educator. In 1997,she ascended to the office of governor of Arizona following the resignation of Fife Symington,becoming the state's 20th governor. Hull was elected in her own right the following year,and served until 2003. Hull was the first woman formally elected as Governor of Arizona,and the second woman to serve in the office after Rose Mofford. She was a member of the Republican Party.

Arizona Proposition 203,also known as English for the Children,is a ballot initiative that was passed by 63% of Arizona voters on November 7,2000. It limited the type of instruction available to English language learner (ELL) students. Before Proposition 203,schools were free in terms of ELL instruction to use bilingual or immersion methods. According to a cover letter from the Arizona Department of Education Superintendent of Public Instruction Lisa Graham Keegan to the Arizona Legislature,it was impossible to make a correct analysis regarding how many students were learning through English as a second language programs,as opposed to bilingual education. The school districts had submitted "conflicting information," and 40% had not submitted any data,in spite of three deadline extensions.
