On July 21, 2023, Newberry signed with the Chicago Dogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball. [15] Newberry would become a free agent after the 2023 season. In 19 games 24.2 innings of relief he went 2-0 with a 1.82 era and 29 strikeouts.

Newberry and his wife, Tiffany, were married in November 2019. [16]
