Jakub Fiala (born 24 May 1975 in Prague) is a former alpine skier who competed in the 1999 Alpine Skiing World Championships in Vail, Colorado and in 2002 Winter Olympics with an American license.

The Civic Democratic Party is a liberal-conservative and Eurosceptic political party in the Czech Republic. The party generally sits centre-right to right-wing on the political spectrum, and holds 34 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, and is the second strongest party by number of seats following the 2021 election. It is the only political party in the Czech Republic that has maintained an uninterrupted representation in the Chamber of Deputies.

Candidates include former Minister of Education and Chairman of Masaryk University Petr Fiala, former Prime Minister candidate Miroslava Němcová and MEP Edvard Kožušník. Fiala was nominated by 12 regional organisations and thus was considered a front-runner. Fiala was also endorsed by acting leader of ODS Martin Kuba. The Cabinet of Petr Fiala is the current government of the Czech Republic, appointed on 17 December 2021. Following elections in October 2021, President Miloš Zeman asked Petr Fiala, as the leader of the Spolu alliance, to form a new government. On 17 November 2021 Fiala presented Zeman with the names of his proposed cabinet, and Zeman agreed to appoint Fiala as the new Prime Minister on 28 November 2021.
