Notts County Football Club is a professional association football club based in Nottingham, England. The team compete in EFL League Two, the fourth level of the English football league system, as of the 2023–24 season. Founded on 28 November 1862, it is the oldest professional association football club in the world and predates the Football Association itself. The club became one of the 12 founder members of the Football League in 1888. They are nicknamed the "Magpies" due to the black and white colour of their home strip, which inspired Italian club Juventus to adopt the colours for their kit in 1903. After playing at different home grounds during its first fifty years, including Trent Bridge, the club moved to Meadow Lane in 1910 and remains there. Notts County has a local rivalry with city neighbour Nottingham Forest, as well as with other nearby clubs such as Mansfield Town.
Christopher Anthony Billy is a retired footballer who played as a midfielder. He played in the Football League for Huddersfield Town, Plymouth Argyle, Notts County, Bury and Carlisle United. He also played for Halifax Town, Farsley Celtic and Ossett Town.

Facey played for Huddersfield Town, Bolton Wanderers, Bradford City, Burnley, West Bromwich Albion, Hull City, Oldham Athletic, Tranmere Rovers, Rotherham United, Gillingham, Wycombe Wanderers, Notts County, Lincoln City, Hereford United and Albion Sports. In April 2015, Facey was jailed for two-and-a-half years for match fixing.

David Brown was a Scottish footballer who played extensively in both England and Scotland. He played in the Football League for Barrow, Crewe Alexandra, Darlington, Notts County and Stoke. A centre-forward, he scored 39 league goals as Darlington won the Third Division North title in 1924–25.

John C. Brodie was a Scottish professional footballer who played as an inside forward. Born in Kilmarnock, he was playing for his hometown club when he was signed by Football League side Burnley in November 1890. Brodie made his debut for the club in the 0–7 defeat away at Preston North End on 2 February 1891, in place of the regular right-inside forward Alexander McLardie. He was also selected for the following match, a 0–4 loss to Notts County, but did not appear again for Burnley and returned to Kilmarnock in March 1891.

William Dowall was a Scottish footballer who played in several positions, though mainly centre forward or right back. He made over 100 Scottish Football League appearances for Motherwell during the early 1930s, the most successful period in their history in which they won the league title in 1931–32 and finished in the top three places in the two years either side of that triumph. Motherwell also reached two Scottish Cup finals but Dowall did not play in either, with injuries interrupting his progress to an extent, as well as his ability to play in several roles which meant he was moved around to accommodate the team's needs but never became fully established in one position.
