James Vos is a South African politician. He has been the City of Cape Town's Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth since November 2021. He was previously MMC for Economic Opportunities and Asset Management from December 2018 until November 2021. A member of the Democratic Alliance,he served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa between May 2014 and November 2018. Vos was also the party's shadow minister of tourism during his time in parliament.
Vos is a member of the Democratic Alliance. He was sworn in as a member of the National Assembly of South Africa on 21 May 2014. [1] On 5 June 2014,DA parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane appointed Vos Shadow Minister of Tourism,succeeding Stuart Farrow. [2] He became a member of the Portfolio Committee on Tourism on 20 June 2014. [1]
On 6 November 2018,Dan Plato was elected Mayor of Cape Town. On 11 November,Plato appointed Vos Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Economic Opportunities and Asset Management. [3] Vos resigned from parliament on the same day and was sworn in as a councillor on 13 November. Vos assumed office in December after the city council approved the mayoral committee. [4]
In September 2020,Vos announced his candidacy for DA provincial chairperson. [5] He lost to Jaco Londt on 21 November 2020. [6]
On 22 November 2021,Vos was appointed Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Economic Growth by newly elected mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis.
Daniel Plato,known as Dan Plato,is a South African politician and a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since January 2022,previously serving from June 2011 until October 2018. Mmusi Aloysias Maimane is a South African politician,businessman,and leader of Build One South Africa,a political party. Maimane is also the former Leader of South Africa's opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) political party from 10 May 2015 to 23 October 2019,and the former Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of South Africa from 29 May 2014 to 24 October 2019. He is the former leader of the DA in the Johannesburg City Council and the DA National Spokesperson. In 2011,he was elected to be the DA's Johannesburg mayoral candidate in the 2011 municipal elections. In that election,Maimane helped to grow the party's voter base,but was not elected mayor. Thereafter he served as Leader of the Official Opposition on the Johannesburg City Council until May 2014. In addition to his political career,he is also a pastor and elder at Liberty Church. He formed the One South Africa Movement in 2020. Mmusi Maimane launched this new political party on 24 September 2022
General elections were held in South Africa on 8 May 2019 to elect a new President,National Assembly and provincial legislatures in each province. These were the sixth elections held since the end of apartheid in 1994 and determined who would become the next President of South Africa.
The Shadow Cabinet of Mmusi Maimane was formed on 5 June 2014 in South Africa following his election as Parliamentary Leader of the Democratic Alliance and Leader of the Opposition on 29 May 2014. The Democratic Alliance parliamentary caucus also elected other caucus leadership. John Steenhuisen was elected Chief Whip with Anchen Dreyer as Caucus Chairperson. These elections all occurred following the 2014 general elections,in which the Democratic Alliance retained its post as the Official Opposition in the National Assembly of South Africa.
Thomas Charles Ravenscroft Walters is a South African politician of the Democratic Alliance (DA) who has been serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since May 2014. He served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014. In 2012,Walters was elected Deputy Federal Council Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance,and has been deputising Federal Council Chairperson Helen Zille since 2019. He deputised James Selfe from 2012 to 2019. Walters was the party's Shadow Minister and Shadow Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) held its leadership conference virtually between 31 October and 1 November 2020. It was originally scheduled to be held in May 2020,but was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The previous congress was held in 2018. In October 2019,then-party leader Mmusi Maimane announced that the party would seek to hold a policy conference and early elective congress in 2020. Maimane and former party chair Athol Trollip have since resigned from their positions and the DA. The party elected John Steenhuisen and Ivan Meyer as their interim successors,respectively.

She served as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Human Settlements from 2014 to 2017 and as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Energy from 2017 to 2019.
