Jami L. Resch is the former chief of police of the police bureau of Portland,Oregon,United States. She served in that role from December 31,2019,until June 8,2020.
Resch was born in Montana,and moved to the Beaverton area early in her life. She attended Beaverton High School. [1] She went on to graduate from the University of Portland in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in allied health and a minor in psychology. [2]
Resch,who originally wanted to become a doctor,joined the Portland Police Bureau in 1999 in a recruiting push that hired 80 new officers. [1] Over the next two decades,Resch rose through the ranks;she was promoted to sergeant in 2008,lieutenant in 2012,and captain in October 2016. After her promotion to captain,she served as acting commander of the North Precinct. In May 2018 she was appointed assistant chief of the Investigations Branch. On May 3,2019,she began to serve as deputy chief. [3]
On December 30,2019 Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler announced the resignation of Resch's predecessor,Danielle Outlaw;he named Resch as her replacement in the same announcement. [4] Resch was sworn in the following day. [1] [3] Whereas Wheeler hired Outlaw after a lengthy national search with public input,the mayor chose to promote Resch from within the bureau immediately and without public input. [5] She is the 49th person to serve as chief. [3]
On June 8,2020,Resch stepped down as chief of police,handing over the position to Chuck Lovell after her handling of the George Floyd protests was met with controversy. [6]

The MAX Red Line is a light rail service in Portland,Oregon,United States,operated by TriMet as part of the MAX Light Rail system. An airport rail link,it connects Beaverton,Portland City Center and Northeast Portland to Portland International Airport. The line serves 26 stations;it interlines with the Blue Line and partially with the Green Line from Beaverton Transit Center to Gateway/Northeast 99th Avenue Transit Center and then branches to the 5.5-mile (8.9 km) Airport MAX segment to Portland International Airport station. The Red Line carried an average 10,310 passengers per weekday in September 2021,the second-busiest MAX service after the Blue Line. Its trains run for 22 hours per day with headways of up to 15 minutes.
Beaverton Transit Center is an intermodal passenger transport hub in Beaverton,Oregon,United States. Owned and operated by TriMet,it is served by bus,commuter rail,and light rail. The transit center is MAX Light Rail's 15th station eastbound on the Blue Line and western terminus on the Red Line. It is also the northern terminus of WES Commuter Rail and a hub for bus routes mostly serving the westside communities of the Portland metropolitan area. Beaverton Transit Center is situated on Southwest Lombard Avenue,just north of Southwest Canyon Road in central Beaverton,connected by walkway to Canyon Place Shopping Center. It recorded 9,709 average weekday boardings for all modes in fall 2018,making it TriMet's busiest transit center.

Hands Across Hawthorne was a rally held at the Hawthorne Bridge in the American West Coast city of Portland,Oregon,on May 29,2011. The demonstration was in response to an attack,one week earlier,on Brad Forkner and Christopher Rosevear,a gay male couple who had been holding hands while walking across the bridge. According to the couple and the Portland Police Bureau,a group of five men followed Forkner and Rosevear along the bridge before physically assaulting them. The assault was condemned by Portland's mayor,Sam Adams,and its police chief,Mike Reese,and news of the attack spread throughout the Pacific Northwest and the United States. The attack prompted volunteers from the Q Center,a nonprofit organization that supports the LGBT community,to form street patrols as a means of monitoring Portland's downtown area.

Outlaw previously worked for the Oakland Police Department,where she served as deputy chief from 2013 until 2017.
The End Domestic Terrorism rally,sometimes subtitled "Better Dead Than Red",was a far-right demonstration organized by the Proud Boys and held in Portland,Oregon on August 17,2019. The event,the purpose of which was to promote the idea that the "antifa" anti-fascist movement should be classified as "domestic terrorism",received national attention. The rally drew more counter-demonstrators than participants—with at least one group urging its members in advance not to attend—and ended with the Proud Boys requesting a police escort to leave.

Charles "Chuck" Lovell is the chief of police of the Portland Police Bureau,in Portland,Oregon. He was named chief on June 8,2020,amid protests over the murder of George Floyd and police brutality. Lovell is the fourth black head of the Portland Police and the 50th police chief in PPB's history.
The Indigenous Peoples Day of Rage,often abbreviated as the Day of Rage,was a protest held in Portland,Oregon on October 11,2020. The demonstration was declared a riot by the Portland Police Bureau and saw the toppling of two statues in the South Park Blocks as well as vandalism to the Oregon Historical Society and other local businesses.
