Jamil Baloch (born 12 June 1972) is a Pakistani sculptor. His work narrates the impact of social and political barriers upon the society. He works in multiple mediums. He is currently teaching at National College of Arts Lahore.

Life and education

Jamil Baloch was born on June 12, 1972, in Nushki, Baluchistan. [1] He got early education from Nushki. He graduated from National College of Arts Lahore in 1997. [2]

Art career

Jamil Baloch works signify different behaviors of a society. Belongs from a rich cultural heritage he incorporate the traditional models with modernity in his art. Most of his earlier works interpret violence and cruelty of power and continuous attempt for survival by mankind.

He always explores diverse mediums. He has been artist in resident Vermont Studio Center, USA. [3] He is also awarded by Rangoonwala Award in national Exhibition of Visual Arts in 2003, Karachi and Honorable Prize International Art Biennale in 2008, Bangladesh.

Henry Charles 'Hal' Bevan-Petman (1894–1980) was a British painter, who made a career in British India and Pakistan. He stayed through during the Partition of India and chose to reside in Pakistan, till his death on 9 May 1980 in Rawalpindi. He painted significant civil and military personalities, landscapes and still life. His works included many Pakistan Army officers, two of whom became Pakistan's Heads of State: Field Marshal Ayub Khan and General Yahya Khan. He is buried in the Christian Graveyard in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Qureshi utilizes paint, watercolor, film, and faceless depictions of his male friends to capture his personal histories, trauma, and childhood memories surrounding his identity as a Queer Muslim Pakistani man. Qureshi explores his identity in his work within an Abstract Expressionist style using large canvases.
