Janice Daniel-Hodge (born 17 April 1962 in England [1] ) is a businesswoman, politician and environmental consultant from Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Career

She graduated from St. Francis College in New York with a degree in biology. In 1987 she also acquired a degree from Alabama A&M University in microbiology. She also has a degree from the University of the Virgin Islands. [1] She was a director and chairperson of The Bank of Nevis Ltd. from 2006 to 2016, and is currently a director at The Bank of Nevis International, Ltd. [1]

In 2020, she became the first female leader of a political party in the country, leading the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP). In 2021, she departed from the Bank of Nevis International. [2]

She lead her party into the Saint Kitts and Nevis general election and the Nevis Island Assembly election in 2022. [3]

Family

She is the daughter of the former Premier of Nevis Simeon Daniel. [4]

General elections were held in Saint Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla on 10 May 1971. The result was a victory for the Saint Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla Labour Party (SKNALP), which won seven of the nine elected seats. The SKNALP won all seven seats at the island of Saint Kitts, while the two seats at the island of Nevis were divided between the People's Action Movement and the Nevis Reformation Party. Anguilla, which was nominally entitled to one seat, boycotted the elections in the aftermath of the 1969 referendum. Voter turnout was 87.9%.

On May 10, 2022, Dr Timothy Harris, having lost the support of the elected majority to function as Prime Minister and facing a historic Motion of No Confidence in the National Parliament, decided to dissolve the Parliament and purported to revoke the appointment of more than 50% of his former Cabinet, including the Hon Mark Brantley. Honourable Brantley previously served as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis . He is married and has 2 daughters. Brantley read law at the University of the West Indies, obtained his Legal Education Certificate of Merit from Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica and also holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford, St. Catherine College. Prior to entering politics, Brantley worked as an attorney.

Robelto Hector is a Nevisian politician and former leader of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) and minister in Nevis cabinet.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 Saint Kitts and Nevis general election</span>

Snap general elections were held in Saint Kitts and Nevis on 5 August 2022, following the decision of incumbent prime minister Timothy Harris to dissolve the parliament on 11 May. Snap elections are constitutionally required within ninety days following the dissolution of parliament.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis is an elected representative in the National Assembly who is appointed by the Governor General on the advise of the Prime Minister. Historically, the person appointed to the position of Deputy Prime Minister is usually the Deputy Leader of the political party that holds the majority of seats in the national assembly or the Leader of another party in the case of a coalition government. The instrument of appointment of the Deputy Prime Minister can be found in the Constitution of St. Christopher and Nevis. The Deputy Prime Minister appointment can be revoked by the Governor General on the advise of the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
