Janie Bay [1] is a South African singer-songwriter from the Helderberg area of Cape Town. She is currently signed to Warner Music South Africa. [2]
Janie Bay began her musical career by self-releasing the album I Remember in 2011. The record generated three no. 1 hits on local mainstream and student radio stations: "Feels Like", "The Meaning", and "This Love". [3] She promoted the album in an acoustic format, together with her brother, under the name Janie & The Beard. [3] The duo went on to perform at numerous venues and festivals, including Oppikoppi, KKNK, and the first edition of the Cape Town Folk & Acoustic Music Festival. [3] In 2014, Bay relocated to Pretoria. [4] In 2016, she signed a recording contract with Warner Music South Africa. [2] [5]
Bay's first major-label single, "Dance", was released on 3 February 2017. [6] It was followed on 15 September by her sophomore album, Miscellany. [4] The record spawned the singles "Better Off", "Wag Vir Jou (feat. Hunter Kennedy)", and "Koning". The album was ultimately nominated for a South African Music Award in the Best Adult Contemporary Album category. [7] [8] Meanwhile, the song "Can't Be the One" won a Gold Award for Best Music in a Video at the 2019 Queen Palm International Film Festival in Palm Springs, California. [9] [5]
Bay's next single, "Amper Daar", released in 2019, went on to reach the number 1 position on the Jacaranda FM SA Top 20, Groot FM, Maroela Media, and Joox charts. [5] Later that year, the artist collaborated with rapper Early B on the track "Die Heelal". [10] She followed up with the single "Jammer" in 2020. [11]
On 4 September 2020, Bay released the acoustic album In Die Sitkamer [12] It included some of her previous singles, the original track "Herfs", as well as a cover of the Elvis Presley hit "Can't Help Falling in Love with You".
Bay's next single, a collaboration with Danie Reënwolf, was titled "Ek Glo Nog In Jou" and came out on 13 November 2020. [13] A year later, the singer collaborated with musicians Majozi and Early B on the single "My Lief". [14] Both songs appear on Bay's subsequent album, the EP Prisma. Fokofpolisiekar is an Afrikaans alternative rock band from Bellville, near Cape Town, South Africa. Due to the obscenity in the name, they are also commonly known simply as Polisiekar or FPK.

Ashton Nyte is a South African-born singer, songwriter, producer, composer, author, actor, and frontman of the gothic rock band The Awakening. Nyte has released seven solo albums, in addition to ten albums as The Awakening and several other projects and collaborations. He is considered to be a pioneer of alternative music in South Africa, and has been described as "something of a musical genius" for his typical method of composing, playing and recording each instrument himself on most of his releases. Nyte is widely known in South Africa for his chart-topping cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence" and several other top singles. His signature style combines baritone vocals, garnering comparisons to David Bowie and Johnny Cash, with instrumentation that ranges from lyric-driven acoustic folk, to alternative rock, to post-punk and electronic music, as well as a penchant for the theatrical. Nyte has been based in the US since 2009.

Maak Jou Drome Waar is a bilingual pop album by South African cricketer AB de Villiers and singer-songwriter Ampie du Preez and was released in South Africa on 2 August 2010. Nine of the 14 tracks on the album are in Afrikaans and five are in English. The tracks consist mainly of power ballads with a "follow-your-dreams" theme and of love songs. The participating artists are signed to the Sony BMG label.

Francois Badenhorst, better known by his stage name Francois Van Coke, rose to fame as the front man of South African rock bands Fokofpolisiekar and Van Coke Kartel. On the 8 April 2015, Francois launched his self-titled debut solo album and kicked his solo career into gear with the release of – Toe Vind Ek Jou featuring Karen Zoid. It was the first Afrikaans album and single to simultaneously jump to number one positions on the South African iTunes Store. The song was downloaded more than 20,000 times on iTunes, achieving Platinum status as a single. The music video for "Toe Vind Ek Jou" was viewed over a million times within six-month and was announced as the biggest Afrikaans music video of 2015. His second album, Hierdie is die Lewe followed in 2017 and in 2018 he released a collab-EP, Francois van Coke en Vriende featuring collaborations with Die Heuwels Fantasties, Early B, Laudo Liebenberg and Jack Parow. The first season of his TV show, Die Van Coke Show, aired in 2018. His third solo album, Dagdrome in Suburbia, released in October 2019. He has a daughter named Alex, age 5–6, and an infant boy.
