The music of the film was composed by Ilaiyaraaja, with lyrics by Chi. Udaya Shankar. [2] The songs "Thangaliyaali Naanu" is composed in Gowrimanohari raaga, "Yaava Shilpi" is composed in Gambheera Nattai raaga, and "Akashadinda Jaari" is composed in Mohana raaga.

Bayalu Daari is a 1976 Indian Kannada-language film directed and produced by the Dorai–Bhagavan duo. It is based on the novel of the same name by Bharathi Sutha. This was the first movie of the director duo without Dr. Rajkumar in the lead. The film starred Anant Nag, Kalpana and K. S. Ashwath. The film was a musical blockbuster with all songs composed by Rajan–Nagendra considered evergreen hits. Bayalu Daari was the first commercial success for Anant Nag, who had earlier done art films and established him as a leading star in the Kannada cinema with a chocolate hero image. Anant Nag is an Indian actor and occasional film producer who appears as an actor in predominantly in Kannada films and a few Hindi and Telugu films. In a career spanning over 5 decades, he has appeared in over 270 films. After having had a successful theatre career, he made his debut in P. V. Nanjaraja Urs' Kannada film Sankalpa, and Shyam Benegal's Dakhani film Ankur, with the former seeing theatrical release first, in 1973, and won multiple awards at the 1972–73 Karnataka State Film Awards. In G. V. Iyer's 1975 film Hamsageethe, he played the role of Bhairavi Venkatasubbiah, a performance that won critical praise, and the film was awarded the Best Feature Film in Kannada at the 23rd National Film Awards.

Durga Prabha, known by her stage name, Hema Chaudhary is an Indian actress who has predominantly acted in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films. Starting her career as a lead actress in the Telugu film Pelli Kani Pelli in 1976, she switched over to supporting roles in the 1980s.

Shankar Nag was an Indian film actor, director, screenwriter and producer known for his work in Kannada cinema. He directed seven Kannada films and one Marathi film. He also wrote the story and screenplay of many of these including a few films that he did not direct. After beginning his acting career in theatre, Nag took to films making his debut in a bit role in the 1978 Marathi anti-superstition drama Sarvasakshi. His Kannada film debut came in the same year with Ondanondu Kaladalli directed by Girish Karnad, in which Nag played the lead, a mercenary named Gandugali. The role that fetched him the Silver Peacock for the Best Actor Award (Male) at the 7th International Film Festival of India. Other than Minchina Ota, he also co-produced two of his directorial ventures — Janma Janmada Anubandha (1980) and Geetha (1981).

Hosa Theerpu is a 1983 Indian Kannada-language directed by Shankar Nag, and is a remake of the Hindi-language film Dushmun (1972), written by Virendra Sinha. It stars Ambareesh as Raja, a reckless truck driver who runs over a farmer, and is sentenced to two years of supporting the deceased's family as punishment for his crime. Jayanthi, Jayamala, Musuri Krishnamurthy, Dheerendra Gopal and Sadashiva Brahmavar feature in supporting roles.
