Jarrett Brandon Williams (born September 8, 1984) is an American comic book creator. Williams currently wrote and illustrated the Super Pro K.O.! graphic novel series through comic publisher Oni Press, later co-illustrating the 2021 graphic novel Rick and Morty: Worlds Apart with Tony Fleecs.
Williams was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. His first exposure to comics came from The Times-Picayune newspaper comic strip section. As a child, Williams was fairly introverted and loved drawing, reading, legoes, and playing video games. He frequented the Crescent City Comic Shop in New Orleans where he was first exposed to comics. [1]
Williams attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts where he graduated in the school's Visual Arts Program. In 2002, he enrolled into the Savannah College of Art and Design where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sequential Art in 2006 and his Master of Fine Arts in Sequential Art in 2010.
Williams worked primarily on his first web-comic, Lunar Boy Land, while in college from 2003 to 2007. He updated the comic every Monday and Wednesday. He eventually collected Lunar Boy into two graphic novel collections. [2]
Super Pro K.O.!
In 2008, Williams stopped working on Lunar Boy, in order to develop a pro-wrestling comic called Super Pro K.O.!. A pro-wrestling fan from childhood, the comic was a way to challenge if he could draw anything besides Lunar Boy and all-ages types of stories. He wanted to develop a comic devoted to pro-wrestling that also drew upon his own experiences in the comic industry. S.P.K.O. was originally planned to be a web-comic but Williams began to stretch out the concept even further into a graphic novel series. Williams began bringing mini-comics of Super Pro K.O.! to comic conventions on the east and west coasts throughout 2008 and 2009 which eventually got into the hands of Oni Press editors. [3] With Tony Fleecs, Williams co-illustrated all five issues of the Rick and Morty limited series Rick and Morty: Worlds Apart , written by Josh Trujillo and published from February to May 2021. [4]
Williams' style is a hybrid of classic American-based comic storytelling and manga which influenced him during his teenage years.
Williams was hugely influenced by comic books such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . Williams also sites numerous newspaper comic strips such as Curtis , Peanuts , and Calvin and Hobbes as influences. Manga such as Ranma ½ , Sailor Moon , and Dragon Ball also influenced him. Williams also draws inspiration from numerous video games. [3]
Oni Press is an American independent comic book and graphic novel publisher based in Portland, Oregon, best known for publishing such series as Scott Pilgrim and Rick and Morty. In 2019, it became an imprint label following the company's merger with Lion Forge Comics. The merged company, Oni–Lion Forge Publishing Group (OLFPG), is owned by Polarity. Oni Press has remained the "predominant name used for publishing comics" by OLFPG.

Pamela Ribon is an Academy Award-nominated American screenwriter, author, blogger and actress. She created and wrote the short film My Year of Dicks (2022), which was nominated for the 95th Academy Awards under the category Best Animated Short Film. Gene Luen Yang is an American cartoonist. He is a frequent lecturer on the subjects of graphic novels and comics, at comic book conventions and universities, schools, and libraries. In addition, he was the Director of Information Services and taught computer science at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, California. In 2012, Yang joined the faculty at Hamline University as a part of the Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults (MFAC) program. In 2016, the U.S. Library of Congress named him Ambassador for Young People's Literature. That year he became the third graphic novelist, alongside Lauren Redniss, to receive a MacArthur Fellowship.

Rick and Morty is an American comic book series written by Zac Gorman, Kyle Starks, and Alex Firer and illustrated by Marc Ellerby, based on the television series of the same name. Oni Press published the original series across 60 issues from April 1, 2015, until March 25, 2020. Using the television series' established premise of alternate timelines, the first two volumes expressly follow the Rick and Morty of a different dimension (C-132) on the "Central Finite Curve" than the protagonists of the television series so-as not to contradict its continuity, before the series switches focus over to the same Rick (C-137) and Morty of the television series following the "Head-Space" arc (#12–14) in the third volume, featuring sequel storylines to specific episodes of the series, with elements of the comic series and references to its events later being incorporated into the television series. Backup stories of the series alternate between focusing on Rick (C-137) and his Morty and various Ricks and Mortys from alternate dimensions, before the primary storyline switches focus over to yet another Rick and Morty at an unspecified point before/during the final volume of the series. In October 2022, a revival of Rick and Morty was announced for a January 2023 release date, spinning out of the limited series Rick's New Hat, from the same new creative team.

Rick and Morty Go to Hell is a limited series graphic novel written by Ryan Ferrier, illustrated by Constanza Orozo, and colored by Sarah Stern, which was published in five parts in 2020 by Oni Press as an epilogue to The Rickoning, the twelfth and final volume of the first ongoing comic series based on the franchise by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. Tonally described as "Dante's Inferno meets Office Space", Part One was released on April 29; Part Two was released on May 27; Part Three was released on June 24; Part Four was released on September 23; and Part Five was released on October 21.
Rick and Morty: Worlds Apart is a limited series graphic novel, written by Josh Trujillo, illustrated by Tony Fleecs & Jarrett Williams, and colored by Leonardo Ito, which was published in four parts in 2021 by Oni Press, based on the fourth season of self-titled television series by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, and specifically serving as a direct sequel to the 2019 episodes "Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat" by Mike McMahan and "Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim's Morty" by Jeff Loveness, as well as a continuation of the 2013 first season episode "Anatomy Park" by Eric Acosta and Wade Randolph.
Rick and Morty & The Pocket Mortys in: Pocket Like You Stole It!, marketed simply as Rick and Morty: Pocket Like You Stole It and Pocket Mortys – Pocket Like You Stole It, is a limited series graphic novel, written by Tini Howard, illustrated by Marc Ellerby, and colored by Katy Farina, published in five parts in 2017 by Oni Press, as an adaptation of Pocket Mortys, a Pokémon-inspired free-to-play role-playing video game set in the Rick and Morty franchise by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. Part 1, Horrible Freedom, was released on July 5; Part 2, Collect Yourself and Move On, was released on August 16; Part 3, Crisis on Infinite Dads!, was released on September 13; Part 4, Tama-Gotchya!, was released on October 18; and Part 5, F**ck-Save!, was released on November 22. Each issue of the series was published with a collection of Pocket Mortys trading cards, with characters created exclusively for the series being made available as playable characters in the Pocket Mortys video game.
