Jason O. Wilson is an American author and martial arts coach.
Wilson is featured in the documentary film The Cave of Adullam, produced by Laurence Fishburne and directed by Laura Checkoway, which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival [1] in 2022 and is distributed online by ESPN Films as of 2023. [2] Wilson founded a program by the same name in 2008, [3] a martial arts academy with a mission to help young boys in Detroit, MI, overcome negative emotions and grow into successful men, [4] [5] [6] [7] the basis for the documentary. One of the techniques used in the program was included in an episode of NBC's hit show This is Us in November 2016 (used by the show without Wilson's prior permission) [8] and video clips showing Wilson's technique went viral. The documentary won 3 awards at the Tribeca Film Festival [9] and one award at the Vail Film Festival [10] and is endorsed by NBA team owner, Tom Gores. [11]
Wilson has authored several books including Cry Like a Man [12] and Battle Cry, [13] which help grown men to process emotions for better mental health & life success. His third book, The Man the Moment Demands, is scheduled for release in January 2025.

Laura Checkoway is a documentary filmmaker and writer, known for her documentary Edith+Eddie for which she received an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject nomination at the 90th Academy Awards. The film also received an Emmy nomination and won numerous awards including the IDA Documentary Awards Best Short. In The New Yorker, critic Richard Brody wrote: “One of the most impressive aspects of Checkoway’s film is that, with a simple and straightforward approach, she brings the overwhelming force of abstract institutions seemingly onto the screen.” Academy Award winning filmmaker Julia Reichert called Edith+Eddie "One of the most beautiful and quietly furious films I've ever seen." Checkoway's documentary The Cave of Adullam is executive produced by Laurence Fishburne and premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2022, winning top prizes Best Documentary Feature, Best Editing, and the Audience Award. In an interview with Deadline, Fishburne said: “She has a cinematic sensitivity and a doctor’s bedside manner... Laura doesn’t impose her personality or her energy onto anything. It boils down to her humanity and her ability to see the humanity in all…” The film was released by ESPN Films. She received NYWIFT’s Excellence in Documentary Filmmaking Award in 2022.

Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road is a 2021 documentary film about the Beach Boys' co-founder Brian Wilson directed by Brent Wilson. It follows Brian and Rolling Stone editor Jason Fine as they drive around Los Angeles and visit locations from Brian's past, interspersed with footage from recording sessions and comments from musical artists about his influence on the industry. The title comes from "Long Promised Road", a song written by Brian's brother Carl Wilson and former band manager Jack Rieley, which figures heavily in the film.
