Jat Gazette [1] [2] [3] [4] was a Hindi language newspaper published in India. Started on 30 May 1916, from Rohtak (now Haryana), the weekly newspaper was published every Tuesday by Chhotu Ram. [5] [6] This newspaper has now also taken the form of digital media. [7] [8] [9]
In 1916, weekly 'Jat Gazette' – Apart from schools, Ch. Chhotu Ram [10] also did the work of bringing awareness among the farmers through newspapers and articles. For this purpose a newspaper named 'Jat Gazette' was brought out. Rs 1500 for the expenditure was given by Rai Bahadur Choudhary Kanhaiyalal of village Matanhel for the first publication and 'Jat Gazette' weekly started.
The first editor of the Jat Gazette was Pt. Sudarshan ji, the second Pt. Shri Ram Sharma's father, Pt. Bishambharnath Sharma, Jhajjar Wale, the third Ch. Molad Singh who was very enthusiastic. In 1924, Shadiram Yatri became the editor and then Chhoturam Dalal village Chhahra and since 2014 Dharam Singh Sampalwal is the advocate editor.
Devi Lal, also known as Chaudhary Devi Lal, was an Indian statesman and politician who served as 6th Deputy Prime Minister of India from 1989 to 1990 and from 1990 to 1991. Lal emerged as farmer leader from the state of Haryana, and served as the Chief Minister of Haryana from 1977 to 1979 and then from 1987 to 1989. He was the founder of Indian National Lok Dal. He was popularly known as Tau, meaning uncle.
Chhotu Ram was a prominent politician in British India's Punjab Province, an ideologue of the pre-Independent India, who belonged to the Hindu community and championed the interest of oppressed communities of the Indian subcontinent. For this feat, he was knighted in 1937. On the political front, he was a co-founder of the National Unionist Party which ruled the United Punjab Province in pre-independent India and kept Congress and Muslim League at bay. In 1916, he brought out a weekly newspaper named Indian Gazette, which is still being published today.

He held water supply and sanitation, parliamentary affairs, electronics and information technology, science and technology and public works as a minister in Haryana cabinet. In 2005, he was given the responsibility of Transport and Parliamentary Affairs and thus became the youngest minister in Haryana. He defeated Om Prakash Chautala in 1996 and 2005. As of December 2017, Surjewala is one of the official spokespersons of Indian National Congress party, and as of September 2021, is a General Secretary of the Indian National Congress and Party in-charge for Karnataka. In the biennial elections of the Rajya Sabha for the State of Rajasthan, held on 10 June 2022, Mr. Surjewala was elected as a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, with his term to start on 5 July 2022.

The Jat reservation agitation was a series of violent protests in February 2016 by the Jats of North India, especially those in the state of Haryana, which "paralysed" the state for 10 days. The protestors sought inclusion of their caste in the Other Backward Class (OBC) category, which would make them eligible for affirmative action benefits. Besides Haryana, the protests also spread to the neighbouring states, such as Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and the National Capital Region.
Mehar Singh Dahiya (1916-1945) commonly known as Fauji Mehar Singh and Jat Mehar Singh, was a Haryanavi poet. He was born in the Dahiya clan of Jats in the village Barona in the Kharkhoda tahsil, in the district of Sonipat. In addition to Haryana, his ragnis are still popular in Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. According to the records of the Jat Regiment, he was born on 15 February 1916. His father, Nand Ram, was a farmer. Due to the economic conditions of the house, his education ended after Class-III. From Childhood, he was fond of singing ragnis. His father was irritated by his son's propensity of singing ragnis, but he was unable to dissuade him from this pastime. He was married to Prem Kaur. In 1937, Mehar Singh joined the army where he kept singing and recording ragnis. During the Second World War, he and his army colleagues allied with the Azad Hind Fauj. In 1945, he died while fighting for the cause of India's freedom.
