Jayantha Kularathna is a Sri Lankan admiral who is the incumbent Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy. [1] Prior to this, he was the Commander, Eastern Naval Area. [2]
Kularathna completed his high school from Mahanama College and then joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1987 as an Officer Cadet of the 16th intake, in the Executive branch. [3]
KJ Kularatne assumed office as Commander Eastern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters in Trincomalee 8 March 2022. [4] Before that, he served as Commander of Northwestern Naval Area. [5] Prior to his promotion to the rank of Rear Admiral on 7 August 2020, Commodore Kularathna served as Deputy Area Commander at Eastern Naval Area. [6] From Deputy chief of staff he promoted to Chief of staff on 18 December, 2022.
The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) is the naval arm of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces and is classed as the country's most vital defence force due to its island geography and is responsible for the maritime defence of the Sri Lankan nation and its interests. The role of the Sri Lanka Navy is to conduct operations at sea for the defence of the nation and its interests and conduct prompt and sustainable combat operations at sea in accordance with the national policies.

Admiral Ravindra Chandrasiri Wijegunaratne, WV, RWP & Bar, RSP, VSV, USP, NI(M), ndc, psn, is a retired Sri Lankan admiral, and former Chief of Defence Staff of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces. He has also served as the Commander of the Sri Lankan Navy, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, the Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard and held, at various times, four of the seven Naval Commands of the SLN. Wijegunaratne has also served as Director Naval Operations, and is a recipient of the Weerodara Vibhushanaya.
Vice admiral Susith Maliya Bandara Weerasekara RSP, VSV, USP, ndu, psn, MSc. (DS) Mgmt, DISS, DIDSS was a commissioned officer of the Sri Lanka Navy. He was the highest ranked senior officer of the Sri Lanka Navy at the time he was overlooked for the position of Commander of the Navy, leading to his subsequent retirement. A committee appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena found that he was politically victimised by the previous government and he was promoted to the rank of vice admiral in October 2015.
Vice Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama, RSP, VSV, USP is a former Sri Lankan senior naval officer turned politician. He served as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy from 2001 to 2005. He was appointed Governor of North Eastern Province from 2006 to 2007 and Governor of Eastern Province from 2007 to 2015, while serving as acting Governor of Northern Province. He is the current Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Pakistan.
Admiral Jayanath Colombage, RSP, VSV, USP, FNI is a Sri Lankan flag officer and diplomat. He was the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2022, prior to which he served as Additional Secretary to the President for foreign relations. A career naval officer, he had served as the Commander of the Sri Lankan Navy, the professional head of the navy from September 2012 to June 2014.
Rear Admiral Dissanayake Mudiyanselage Sarath Dissanayake RWP, RSP, VSV, USP, NDU, MMS, HDMC, ADIDSM, AIMA, JP is a retired Sri Lankan admiral. Rear Admiral Sarath Dissanayake joined Sri Lanka Navy in 1982 as an Officer Cadet of the 11th Cadet Intake. During his highly decorated naval career, Rear Admiral Dissanayake had served in many ships and establishments and imparted his hard-earned experience and knowledge for the progress of the Navy.
Daya W. K. Sandagiri was the 14th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy. Admiral Sandagiri was born in Veyangoda and had his education at St. Mary's Maha Vidyalaya, Veyangoda and Kegalu Vidyalaya, Kegalle. He enlisted in the then Royal Ceylon Navy on 14 November 1966 and was in the first batch of naval cadets to join the Naval and Maritime Academy at Trincomalee on 1 July 1969. He was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the navy as a sub-lieutenant on 1 July 1972.
Rear Admiral Anthony Rohan Amarasinghe, RSP, VSV, USP, psc, MNI, SLN was a distinguished Sri Lankan admiral. He served as the Director of Naval Rapid Action Boat Squadron, Director Naval Operations, Commander Southern Naval Area (ComSouth), Director General Personnel and Training, Commander North Central Naval Area (ComNorCen), Commander Western Naval Area (ComWest) and Commander Eastern Naval Area (ComEast). He retired from the active service in 2014 upon reaching a mandatory retirement age of 55 for Sri Lankan Armed Forces Personnel. At the time of his retirement, he was the third most senior executive officer behind Commander of the Navy and the Chief of Staff.

He served as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy and Joint chief Hydrographer to the Government of Sri Lanka, former Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy and Commanding Officer, 4th Fast Attack Flotilla.
Admiral Sirimevan Sarathchandra Ranasinghe, WWV, RWP, USP is a retired Sri Lankan admiral and the former Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy.
Admiral Travis Jeremy Liyanduru Sinniah, WWV, RWP, RSP, USP, ndu, psc was a Sri Lankan admiral and the 21st Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy. He has served as the Commander of Sri Lanka's Eastern Naval Area and as Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Fleet. He was the second Tamil to be appointed the commander of the Sri Lankan Navy after Rajan Kadiragamar in the 1960s.

Rear Admiral (retired) Upul De Silva, RWP, RSP, USP, psc was a Sri Lankan admiral who served as Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy. Silva also holds the office as Commander, Western Naval Area. Prior to this appointment, he was Deputy Chief of Staff in Sri Lankan Navy. He also served as the Commandant of Volunteer Naval Force at the Volunteer Naval Force Headquarters.

Chief of Staff of the Navy has been the title of the second in command of the Sri Lanka Navy. The post is held by a regular officer of the rank of Rear Admiral and is the second most senior position in the navy. Chief of Staff is charged with assisting the Navy Commander in both operational and administrative aspects, functioning as the Acting Navy Commander in his absences or incantation. Chief of Staff is assisted by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy.
