The Jayasagara class is a class of Offshore patrol vessels that are part of the Sri Lankan Navy and have been locally built. [1]
Built by Colombo Dockyard Limited for the Sri Lankan Navy in the early 1980s, these were the first warships built in Sri Lanka in modern times. Designed for off shore patrol and naval fire support on coastal areas they have seen action with the Sri Lankan Navy for more than 20 years. [2] [3]
Two ships of this class were built. Currently one is still in service while the other was lost due to a suicide attack carried out by the LTTE. Mostly used for patrol duties, they have been deployed on many occasions to support amphibious operations carried out by the navy along with the Sri Lanka Army. [3]
On October 2, 2021, the SLNS Jayesagara was decommissioned. [4]

SLNS Vijayabahu (P627) is an Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel of the Sri Lanka Navy. The ship is named after King Vijayabahu I, the warrior king of the medieval Sri Lanka who founded the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa.
The Sea Tigers was the naval wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam during the Sri Lankan Civil War. It was founded in 1984. The Sea Tigers had a number of small but effective suicide bomber vessels. During its existence it had gained a reputation as a capable adversary for the Sri Lankan Navy.
