Jazzyfact is a South Korean hip hop duo. The group currently consists of rapper Beenzino and producer Shimmy Twice. [1] They released their first studio album Lifes Like in 2010, and in 2017 they released an EP Waves Like. [2]
Jazzyfact was formed in 2008. Beenzino and Shimmy Twice were high school students at the time, and they had their own teams, but they decided to team up together because their team members all quit music. [3]
They released their single Addicted 2 in 2009 and their studio album Lifes Like in 2010. [4] Hyen Minhyeong of IZM reviewed "Beenzino's dream, expressed through Shimmy Twice, seems immature because it is not bound by realistic conditions, but it is impressive to insist on the faded purity due to capitalism." [5] They released their single Always Awake and Big in 2011, but later the band went on hiatus due to the career of Beenzino's Illionaire Records and Shimmy Twice's enlistment in the military. [2] Before Beenzino joined the military in 2017, they released an EP Waves Like. [6] [7]
Epik High is a South Korean hip-hop trio formed in 2001, composed of Tablo, Mithra Jin, and DJ Tukutz. Primarily based in Seoul, the group signed with Woollim Entertainment and released their first two studio albums, Map of the Human Soul (2003) and High Society (2004), to minor success. The trio rose to fame with the release of their follow-up studio albums, Swan Songs (2005), Remapping the Human Soul (2007), and Pieces, Part One (2008), spawning the hit singles "Fly", "Paris", "Fan", "Love Love Love", "One" and "Umbrella". Although the majority of these albums were censored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism due to themes of crimes, war, religion, and education, Epik High established themselves as one of the leading hip-hop artists in the country, gaining a cult following and critical plaudit.
Ramone Johnson, better known by his stage name Cashis, is an American rapper who was born and raised in Chicago, but moved to Irvine, California. He was most notably featured on the Shady Records album Eminem Presents: The Re-Up with Eminem and the record label, and released The County Hound EP in 2007. The County Hound EP sold 6,700 copies in its first week and debuted on the US Billboard 200 at number 106. He's best known for appearing on Eminem's song, "You Don't Know", featuring 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks.
Daniel Armand Lee, better known by his stage name Tablo, is a Korean-Canadian hip hop recording artist, lyricist, composer and record producer. Tablo is best known as the leader and producer of veteran Korean hip-hop group Epik High, and the founder of independent music label HIGHGRND, which housed bands Hyukoh and The Black Skirts.
Jung San, more commonly known by his stage name San E (Korean: 산이), is a South Korean rapper. He debuted in 2010 under JYP Entertainment, where he was the label's first solo rapper. He left the company in 2013 to sign with hip hop label Brand New Music. He left the company in 2018 and established hip hop label FameUs Entertainment in 2019.
Shin Dong-gab, better known by his stage name The Quiett, is a South Korean rapper, composer, lyricist and record producer. He is widely known within the South Korean hip hop community for founding several major hip hop record labels, including co-founding record labels Soul Company in 2004, Illionaire Records in 2011, and Ambition Musik in 2016, the latter two with fellow rapper Dok2. He founded label Daytona Entertainment in 2020 and has remained since after Illionaire Records closed its doors.
Chopper is a hip hop music subgenre that originated in the Midwestern United States and features fast-paced rhyming or rapping. Those that rap in the style are known as choppers, and rapping in the style is sometimes referred to as chopping. The style is one of the major forms of Midwest hip hop, though by the early 2000s, it had spread to other parts of the United States including California and New York City, and it has spread around the world since.
Do It for the Fans is Dok2's latest mixtape which was released on November 15, 2011. This mixtape was released under Dok2's own independent Korean hip hop label, Illionaire Records, which he formed with Beenzino and The Quiett.
Garion (Korean: 가리온) is a South Korean hip hop group that pioneered Korea's underground hip-hop scene. The group currently consists of rappers MC Meta and Naachal. They are notable for rapping entirely in Korean.
Majid Jordan is a Canadian R&B duo, consisting of singer Majid Al Maskati and producer Jordan Ullman from Toronto, Ontario. They formed in 2011 and signed to OVO Sound, the record label co-founded by rapper Drake, producer Noah "40" Shebib and Oliver El-Khatib, releasing their debut EP, A Place Like This, in 2014.
Urban Zakapa is a South Korean R&B singer-songwriter group formed in 2009 by Fluxus Music. Originally a 9-member group, in 2012 they became a trio, consisting of Park Yong-in, Jo Hyunah and Kwon Soon-il. The group's name is an abbreviation for Urban, Zappy, Kaleidoscopic, and Passionate.
Lim Sung-bin, better known by the stage name Beenzino (빈지노), is a South Korean rapper. His stage name is a play on that of Boston rapper Benzino, combined with "빈" from his birth name. Beenzino first gained popularity through the duo Jazzyfact, which he formed with Shimmy Twice in 2008. And he made his first official public appearance at Dok2's Hustle Real Hard Concert on June 5, 2011, and has since released three solo albums, as well as other works in collaboration with hip hop producers Primary and Shimmy Twice, and as the duo Hot Clip with South Korean rapper Beatbox DG. He is noted for his melodic style of rapping.
Song Min-ho, better known by the stage name Mino, is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, music producer, artist and actor. After a stint in the two-year ballad group BoM from 2011 to 2013, he joined YG Entertainment, leading to his debut in 2014 with the boy band Winner, formed through Mnet survival program WIN: Who Is Next. Alongside label-mate Bobby, he is also part of the hip hop duo MOBB, formed in September 2016.
Jo Sung-woo, better known by his stage name Code Kunst, is a South Korean composer and music producer. In 2015, he released his second studio album Crumple and joined Highgrnd. In 2017, he released his third studio album Muggles' Mansion. In 2018, he signed to AOMG and appeared as a judge alongside Paloalto on Show Me the Money 777. He released his fourth studio album People in 2020 and won Producer of the Year at the Korean Hip-hop Awards in 2021. In 2023, he released his fifth studio album Remember Archive.
4 Only is the third Korean-language and fourth overall studio album by South Korean singer Lee Hi, released on September 9, 2021, through AOMG. It is Lee's first studio album since Seoulite (2016), and first collection of new material since her 2019 EP 24°C and subsequent departure from YG Entertainment.
