Jean Freeman (1950-2010) [1] was an American swimming coach. She was the Women's Swimming Head Coach at the University of Minnesota for 31 years, from 1973 to 2004. [2] Freeman was coach of Minnesota's women's Swimming team when the school's UM's women's athletics program started in 1975. [3]
She coached the Golden Gophers to two Big Ten titles (1999, 2000) and was named the Big Ten's Women's Coach of the Year four times. [3] She was inducted in the American Swimming Coaches Association's Hall of Fame in 2011. [4]
On December 6, 2014, the University of Minnesota renamed its swimming and diving complex the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
Freeman swam for Minnesota from 1968 to 1972, and graduated from the school in 1973.

Jerry R. Kill is an American football coach. He was most recently the head coach at New Mexico State University. He played college football at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, from 1979 to 1982. Kill served as the head coach at Saginaw Valley State University, Emporia State University, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Northern Illinois University and the University of Minnesota, as well as serving as the interim head coach for the final four games of the 2021 season at TCU.
John Anderson is an American college baseball coach and former pitcher. He is the former head baseball coach at the University of Minnesota. Anderson played college baseball at the University of Minnesota from 1974 to 1975, until injuries ended his career. In 38 seasons, Anderson has led the Golden Gophers to a record of 1,317 wins, 887 losses and three ties. In the Big Ten he has led Golden Gophers to a record of 592 wins and 351 losses in that same span.
The 2009–10 Minnesota Golden Gophers women's hockey team represented the University of Minnesota during the 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's hockey season. The Golden Gophers were coached by Brad Frost in his third season and played their home games at Ridder Arena. The University of Minnesota hosted the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Ice hockey Tournament's championship game on March 21, 2010 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis. It marked the third time that Minneapolis hosted the Frozen Four. The Golden Gophers are a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and attempted to win their fourth NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Championship.

Nadine Muzerall is a Canadian former ice hockey player and current coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes women's ice hockey team. While attending the University of Minnesota as a student, she became their all-time leader with 139 career goals, including a record 40 power-play goals. She was also a member of the inaugural team of University of Minnesota women's hockey.

Anne Kathryn Schleper is an American women's ice hockey player for the Buffalo Beauts of the National Women's Hockey League. She played college hockey for the Minnesota Golden Gophers women's ice hockey program and made her debut for the United States women's national ice hockey team at the 2011 IIHF Women's World Championship. She was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Rachel Banham is an American professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Banham played guard for the Minnesota Golden Gophers women's basketball team, where she set a number of team records. Banham was drafted by the Connecticut Sun with the 4th pick of the 2016 WNBA draft. Banham was traded to the Minnesota Lynx in 2020, and later re-signed with the Sun in 2024.
Roy Griak was a cross country and track and field coach. He was the head cross country and track and field coach at the University of Minnesota from 1963–1996. In 2001, he was inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame.
Sara Angeline Groenewegen is a Canadian professional softball pitcher. From 2014 to 2017, Groenewegen pitched for the University of Minnesota, where she hold the all-time strikeouts and strikeout ratio records. She also currently still ranks for both the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA Division I in the ratio category. She played professionally for the Canadian Wild in the NPF since being drafted second overall in 2017. She most recently played for Athletes Unlimited Softball. She has been a member of the Canada women's national softball team since 2013. Groenewegen helped Team Canada win a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Piper Marten Ritter is an American, former collegiate softball pitcher and current head coach at Minnesota. Ritter played college softball at Minnesota from 2001 to 2004, and was named a four-time All-Big Ten Conference honoree. She is the school's career leader in WHIP. Ritter was undrafted and played one season in the National Pro Fastpitch in 2005 with the defunct Texas Thunder.
Linda Marie Wells is a former American softball coach. She previously served as the head coach for the Minnesota Golden Gophers softball and Arizona State Sun Devils softball teams.

Plitzuweit was hired in March 2023 after she spent one year at West Virginia.
