Jean Okada (born June 7, 1974) is a former professional tennis player from the United States.
Okada grew up in Lahaina, on the Hawaiian island of Maui.
From 1992 to 1996 she played collegiate tennis at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). She has the distinction of being the first women's UCSB player to earn All-American honors, which she achieved in 1996 after reaching the round of 16 at the NCAA championships.
As a professional player her most notable performance was qualifying for the singles main draw of the 1998 US Open. [1] One of her wins in qualifying was over former top 50 player Elena Makarova. In the main draw she was beaten in the first round by the Czech Republic's Radka Bobková.
She retired from the tour in 2001. [2]
Nirupama Sanjeev is an Indian former professional tennis player. In the 1998 Australian Open, Sanjeev became the second Indian woman in the Open era to feature in a major main draw, the first one in singles, and the first to win a major match, defeating Gloria Pizzichini. She also won the bronze medal at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games in mixed doubles, partnering Mahesh Bhupathi. Sanjeev was the first Indian woman to enter the top 200 of the rankings in singles.
Mirjana Lučić-Baroni is a Croatian former professional tennis player and Grand Slam doubles winner. She enjoyed a meteoric rise on the WTA Tour in the late 1990s, during which she set several "youngest-ever" records. She captured the women's doubles title at the 1998 Australian Open when she was 15 years old, partnered with Martina Hingis. She also won the first ever professional tournament she entered, the 1997 Croatian Ladies Open, and defended it the following year at age 16, making her the youngest player in history to successfully defend a title. She then reached the semifinals of the 1999 Wimbledon Championships, beating world No. 4 Monica Seles, and eighth seed Nathalie Tauziat, the previous year's finalist, before she lost to Steffi Graf in three sets. Following a series of personal problems from 2000 onwards, she faded from the scene.
