Jeanie Johnston (born Carrickfergus) [1] is a former Northern Irish television presenter and journalist.
Johnston joined UTV in 1978, reporting for news programmes Good Evening Ulster, Six Tonight and UTV Live. [2] She later became UTV's Health and Education Correspondent. [2]
In 2000, Johnston was appointed Features Editor at the station, responsible for the content on UTV Life. [2] She took voluntary redundancy from UTV in January 2009. [2]
In an interview discussing her departure from UTV, Johnston stated a desire to work in health consultancy with her friend and former UTV colleague Kate Smith. [2]
Johnston is a patron of the charity Heartbeat. [3] She has two children.
UTV is the ITV region covering Northern Ireland, ITV subsidiary and the former on-air name of the free-to-air public broadcast television channel serving the area. It is run by ITV plc and is responsible for the regional news service and other programmes made principally for the area.
