In a career spanning five decades, has acted in over 190 films since 1971. In 2003, Denzongpa was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honour.

Two language versions were released, a Hindi version as Jagir and a Bengali version as Teen Murti. The film released on the Diwali weekend along with another Dharmendra starrer Jeene Nahi Doonga. Upon release the film received positive reviews from critics and was a hit domestically as well as in Soviet Union.

The film had the same star cast and almost the exact story line. Among the few changes were that Ranjeet was replaced by Shakti Kapoor. The film was released on 12 February 1982.
