Jeff Jordan (born c. 1948) [1] is an American surrealism painter in Eureka, California. He is best known for painting several of The Mars Volta's album covers, including for The Bedlam in Goliath . [1]
To avoid being drafted into the Vietnam War and sent to Southeast Asia, Jordan joined the American Air Force in 1966 and was stationed in Iceland before returning to the United States and working as a missile guard at Vandenberg Air Force Base. [1]
Jordan's interests vary widely and he has explored a wide range of art styles; as such, it took him 25 years to settle on his surrealist style. [1] His work is done by hand with acrylic and oil paints. [2] After years of working as a commercial artist who felt uninspired by his commissions, he teamed up with The Mars Volta for their album Amputechture (2006). The cover is Jordan's painting Big Mutant, while Dwarf Dancing is on the CD face and LP labels. [1] [3] Agadez was used as the cover art for The Bedlam in Goliath (2008) and was also the name of the album's eighth track. [4] [5] Rolling Stones readers chose this as the second best album cover of 2008. [6] [1] The band's fifth studio album, Octahedron , features Jordan's artwork on the front [1] [7] and back covers as well as throughout the LP packaging. The band's only constant members are Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala, whose partnership forms the core of the band. Cedric Bixler-Zavala is an American musician. He is the lead singer and lyricist of the progressive rock band the Mars Volta since its inception in 2001. He was the lead singer and only constant member of the post-hardcore group At the Drive-In, the lead singer of the band Antemasque, and singer and guitarist in the band Zavalaz.
Pablo J. Hinojos-Gonzalez, also known as Paul Hinojos, is an American musician best known as the bass guitarist for At the Drive-In, and former touring member of The Mars Volta. He is also a former guitarist of Sparta.
Randolph Isaiah "Ikey" Owens was an American keyboardist known for his work with The Mars Volta, Jack White and an array of bands from the Long Beach music scene.
Juan Alderete de la Peña is an American musician, best known as the longtime bassist of Racer X, the Mars Volta and Marilyn Manson.
Jon Philip Theodore is an American drummer. He has been the current drummer for Queens of the Stone Age since 2013, and is also known for being the drummer for the Mars Volta from 2001 to 2006.
Marcellus Rodríguez-López is an American multi-instrumentalist musician and younger brother of Omar Rodríguez-López. He is best known as the keyboardist and percussionist of The Mars Volta and the drummer for Zechs Marquise. He also produces electronic music under the moniker Eureka the Butcher and has performed with De Facto since 2024.
Adrián Terrazas-González is a Mexican multi-instrumentalist who plays flute, tenor saxophone, bass clarinet, and percussion. He was a member of the progressive rock band The Mars Volta from 2005 to 2008.

Se Dice Bisonte, No Búfalo is the third studio album by Omar Rodríguez-López and the second in the "Amsterdam series". It was written and recorded in 2005 in California and Amsterdam, and was released May 29, 2007 by Gold Standard Labs on both vinyl and CD. A limited edition, brown marble vinyl was also available. 750 were made to fulfill pre-orders through April 30.

Produced by guitarist and songwriter Omar Rodríguez-López, the album's creation was fraught with strange occurrences after an experience with a ouija that Rodriguez-Lopez bought as a gift for vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala. The album is their first to feature drummer Thomas Pridgen, and the last to include guitarist and sound manipulator Paul Hinojos, wind multi-instrumentalist Adrián Terrazas-González, and keyboardist Isaiah "Ikey" Owens.
"Wax Simulacra" is a single from the album The Bedlam in Goliath by the Mars Volta. The single debuted on November 18, 2007, on San Francisco's Live 105 FM. It was previously played live by the band under the name "Idle Tooth". The B-side "Pulled to Bits" is a cover of a Siouxsie and the Banshees song.
