Jeff Thomas (born 18 May 1949 in Newport) is a Welsh former professional footballer. A pacey winger, he progressed through the youth team at Newport County making his first team debut in 1965. He went on to make 209 appearances for Newport scoring 31 goals before retiring in 1973. [1]

In 1971 Thomas was selected for the Football Association of Wales tour of Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia and Malaysia but these matches were not classed as international cap matches. [2] Thomas did however represent Wales at under-23 level.

Billy Shergold was a Welsh professional footballer, born in Slade Street, Newport, where his Grandfather moved for work from Wiltshire in 1886, a mere quarter-of-a-mile from Somerton Park, home of his future team Newport County. An inside-forward, he joined Newport County in 1947 from Bishop Auckland. He went on to make 273 Football League appearances for Newport County scoring 48 goals, at the time Newport County were playing in Division 4 (North) and 3rd Division (South). He is the 7th longest serving member of Newport County. In 1956 he joined Weymouth with 104 appearances and 37 goals in two years.

Tom Docherty was an English professional footballer. A winger, he joined Newport County in 1955 from Reading and went on to make 108 appearances for Newport, scoring one goal. In 1958 he joined King's Lynn. He died in December 2020 at the age of 96.

Guido Roffi (1924–1973) was a Welsh professional footballer. An inside-forward, he joined Newport County in 1947 from Tynte Rovers. He went on to make 112 Football League appearances for Newport, scoring 27 goals between 1947 and 1951.
