Jeff Tittel

Jeff Tittel is an American environmentalist. He has been the director of the New Jersey Sierra Club for 23 years. [1] He is one of the most prominent environmental activists in the state. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Tittel worked on the New Jersey Highlands Act, the New Jersey Clean Car program, a fracking ban in the basin of the Delaware River, and the Global Warming Response Act. [7] He was raised in Hillside, New Jersey and has led environmental activism since an early age. [8]

David Ross Brower was a prominent environmentalist and the founder of many environmental organizations, including the John Muir Institute for Environmental Studies (1997), Friends of the Earth (1969), Earth Island Institute (1982), North Cascades Conservation Council, and Fate of the Earth Conferences. From 1952 to 1969, he served as the first Executive Director of the Sierra Club, and served on its board three times: from 1941–1953; 1983–1988; and 1995–2000 as a petition candidate enlisted by reform-activists known as the John Muir Sierrans. As a younger man, he was a prominent mountaineer.

Smith is a member of the Republican Party, having switched from the Democratic Party in 1978.

Rodney Procter Frelinghuysen is an American former politician and lobbyist who served as the U.S. representative for New Jersey's 11th congressional district from 1995 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party, Frelinghuysen served as Chair of the House Appropriations Committee from 2017 to 2019. Frelinghuysen announced on January 29, 2018, that he would not seek re-election that year.

He is the author of the books Act Now, Apologize Later and Strategy for Sustainability: A Business Manifesto Werbach was a frequent contributor to The Atlantic, serving as the magazine's online "sustainability expert." He co-founded the re-use company Trove, and is now the Head of Digital for Kapital Entertainment.

The 2009 New Jersey gubernatorial election took place on November 3, 2009. Incumbent Democratic Governor Jon Corzine ran for a second term against Republican Chris Christie, Independent Christopher Daggett, and nine others, in addition to several write-in candidates. Christie won the election, with about 48.5 percent of the vote, to 44.9 percent for Corzine and 5.8 percent for Daggett. He assumed office on January 19, 2010. This was the first election to fill the newly created office of lieutenant governor, with the candidates for governor choosing their running mates. Kim Guadagno, Christie's running mate, became New Jersey's first lieutenant governor following her inauguration.

The Exxon Mobil–New Jersey Environmental Pollution Settlement was a 2015 legal settlement between Exxon Mobil Corporation and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, over contaminated sites at oil refinery plants and other facilities at Bayway Refinery in Linden and Bayonne Refinery in Bayonne, New Jersey dating back to the Standard Oil's use of the properties starting in the 1870s. The settlement was controversially settled by Governor Chris Christie's Administration for far less than the state originally sought when it began the lawsuit in 2004, and has been the subject of intense criticism from activists and environmentalists.

She lost the general election to Republican Bill Hagerty. She is now the executive director of the environmental and political organization Sowing Justice.
