Brooks & Dunn is an American country music duo consisting of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, both of whom are vocalists and songwriters. The duo was founded in 1990 through the suggestion of songwriter and record producer Tim DuBois. Before their formation, both members were solo recording artists, having charted two solo singles apiece in the 1980s. Brooks also released an album for Capitol Records in 1989 and wrote hit singles for other artists.

Evans was heavily involved in the writing for the album, co-writing seven of the eleven tracks. She co-produced the album with Nathan Chapman, Tony Brown, and Marti Frederiksen.

Ray Hood is an American country music singer-songwriter. Hood co-wrote Doug Stone's 1994 top five single "Addicted to a Dollar." Between 1996 and 2000, Hood charted two singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. The highest-charting of the two, "Critical List," peaked at number 67 in 2000. It received a favorable review from Deborah Evans Price of Billboard, who wrote that "Hood has an impressive, barroom-seasoned baritone that works effectively on this uptempo number." The follow-up single, "What's a Little More Water," also received a positive review from Price, who said that "all the elements are here–a stunning traditional country vocal, clean and crisp production, and a killer hook."

Ron Wallace and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, is an American country music singer-songwriter. Wallace was signed to Sony/Columbia Records and charted one single on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. He released an EP, It Must Be Love, independently in late March 2015.
John Bunzow is an American country music singer-songwriter. Bunzow was signed to Liberty Records and charted one single on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
