Jerry Shively is an American politician and educator who served as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives for the 33rd district from 2008 to 2010. After serving for one term, Shively was defeated by Republican Jeff Thompson. [1]

Education

Shively earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Education in music education from the University of Idaho. [2]

Career

Prior to entering politics, Shively worked as a music teacher at Idaho Falls High School. He later became music coordinator of the Idaho Falls School System before retiring. Shively has worked as a member of the staff of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho. [3]

Concordia University was a private Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) university in Portland, Oregon that closed in Spring 2020. One remaining program, the accelerated Bachelor Degree, continues to operate under another Concordia University System school. Opened in 1905 as a University-preparatory school, the institution added college classes in 1950 and the high school formally split from the college in 1977. The school of approximately 5,400 undergraduate and graduate students was affiliated with the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod and the Concordia University System. Located in Northeast Portland, the school had branch campuses across Oregon and operated the Concordia University School of Law in Boise, Idaho. The university had four colleges and eighteen majors. Kathleen Baskin-Ball

Kathleen Baskin-Ball was an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. She was ordained as deacon and probationary member of the North Texas Conference in 1983 and as elder and full member of the North Texas Conference in 1988. She received national recognition for her preaching, especially to youth. She was a keynote speaker at Youth2007, the international youth conference of the UMC. She was also recognized regionally as the first female minister in North Texas to demonstrate high membership and worship attendance growth while serving as senior pastor of a large church. She had a notable career record of growth in membership, worship attendance, and people joining by profession of faith. Baskin-Ball died on December 2, 2008, after two years' illness with cancer.

For a time in the early 1900s, St. Paul had the largest Methodist congregation in the Southeastern United States. The church organ was acquired at the Cotton States Exhibition in 1887. St. Paul's stained glass windows, which date back to 1907, are being refurbished. St. Paul is a main stop on tours of the Grant Park neighborhood given by the Atlanta Preservation Center.
