Jessica Largey is an American chef, who was named the Rising Star Chef of the Year at the James Beard Foundation Awards in 2015. She was the opening head chef at restaurant, Simone, in Los Angeles.
Jessica Largey was raised in Fillmore, California, and trained at the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena. [1] During her early career, Largey worked in several fine dining restaurants, such as Providence, Bastide and The Fat Duck. In 2013, Zagat named her as one of their "30 under 30" list for San Francisco, and was won rising star chefs from StarChefs.com and Eater . [2] Largey was nominated for the James Beard Foundation Award for Rising Star Chef of the Year in 2014, while working as chef de cuisine at the three Michelin star restaurant Manresa in Los Gatos, California under head chef David Kinch. [3] [4] She was re-nominated again the following year, when she won the award. [5]
Following the James Beard Foundation Award, she collaborated on a joint menu later that year at the rotating chef restaurant Intro in Chicago. She returned to the restaurant as the fifth chef-in-residence in February 2016, following her departure from Manresa. [3] It was announced in mid 2016, that Largey was opening her first restaurant as head chef later that year. [6] Named Simone, it was located in the Arts District, Los Angeles. [4] Simone opened 9/20/18 [7] but closed just 6 months later to be reopened under a new name and new head chef. [8] Largey opened the restaurant with the backing of film director Joe Russo and Bruno Bagbeni, who financed Bastide. [4] Largey named the restaurant after singer Nina Simone, after being inspired by her music one evening. [9]

The James Beard Foundation Awards are annual awards presented by the James Beard Foundation to recognize chefs, restaurateurs, authors and journalists in the United States. They are scheduled around James Beard's May 5 birthday. The media awards are presented at a dinner in New York City; the chef and restaurant awards were also presented in New York until 2015, when the foundation's annual gala moved to Chicago. Stephanie Izard is an American chef and television personality best known as the first female chef to win Bravo's Top Chef, taking the title during its fourth season. She is the co-owner and executive chef of three award-winning Chicago restaurants, Girl and the Goat, Little Goat, and Duck Duck Goat, and opened her first restaurant, Scylla as chef-owner at the age of 27. Izard received a James Beard Foundation Award for "Best Chef: Great Lakes" in 2013 for her work at Girl and the Goat. She has made a number of appearances on Top Chef since her win, both as a guest judge on subsequent seasons and as a participant in Top Chef Duels. In 2017, Izard competed in the Food Network series Iron Chef Gauntlet, where she overall defeated chefs Bobby Flay, Michael Symon, and Masaharu Morimoto to obtain the title of Iron Chef.
Timothy Hollingsworth is an American chef and restaurateur. In 2012, he left his post as Chef de Cuisine at Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry and moved to Los Angeles, where he opened Otium. He has won multiple awards throughout his career, including the 2010 James Beard Foundation's Rising Chef of the Year Award, the 2010 San Francisco Chronicle Rising Star Chef, and the 2009 Bocuse d'Or, where he placed sixth. He was the winner of the 2018 cooking competition The Final Table.

David Kinch is an American chef and restaurateur. He owned and operated Manresa, a restaurant in Los Gatos, California, which was awarded three Michelin stars in 2016. Kinch's California cuisine has strong French, Catalan and Japanese influences. Kinch opened a second restaurant in Los Gatos, called The Bywater, on January 12, 2016.
Pok Pok was a group of Thai restaurants based in Portland, Oregon, founded and led by chef Andy Ricker. Pok Pok won both local recognition and major industry awards, with The Oregonian describing the restaurant as "one of those quintessentially Portland institutions, a sort of rags-to-riches story of the street cart that became a restaurant that became a legend." The main restaurant was located on Southeast Division Street in Portland; with its success Ricker opened satellite locations elsewhere in Portland, and at various times in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. Its remaining locations closed in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sarah Grueneberg is an American chef who is head chef and owner of Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio in Chicago. While executive chef at Spiaggia, she held a Michelin star for three years. In 2017, she was named the 2017 Best Chefs in the Great Lakes at the James Beard Foundation Awards. Grueneberg came second in the ninth season of Top Chef; and she also appeared on the first season of Iron Chef Gauntlet.
Quince is a restaurant in the Jackson Square neighborhood in San Francisco, California. Opened in 2003 by chef Michael Tusk and his wife, Lindsay, in Pacific Heights, the restaurant moved to their current location in Jackson Square, which is next door to sister restaurant, Cotogna. The Tusks partner with Fresh Run Farms of Bolinas, CA in sourcing exclusive produce for a $275 per diner tasting menu in the California tradition. She became engaged to her fiancé Andrew Skala on January 14, 2023. On April 9, 2023, Lin won the fourth season of Food Network's Tournament of Champions.
