Jharna Rahman (born 28 June 1959) [1] is a Bangladeshi writer specialising in short stories, novels, travelogues, essays, non-fiction, and children's books. [2] She was awarded 2021 Bangla Academy Literary Award and 1427 Anannya Literature Award. [3] [2] As of 2021, she has written a total 60 books including Ognita, Shorbotorbari, Perek, Chondrodohon, and Adritar Potaka. [2]
Jharna Rahman was born in Dacca, East Pakistan, Pakistan (now Dhaka, Bangladesh) on 28 June 1959 to Md. Mofazzal Hossain and Rahima Begum. [1] She is a faculty member at the Bir Shreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College. [1]
Rahman released Jolpori Onuher Nouka and Juddhodiner Nil Khata in February 2021. [2]
Independence of Bangladesh was declared on 26 March 1971, celebrated as Independence Day, from Pakistan. The Independence Day of Bangladesh is celebrated on 26 March when Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the Independence of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Liberation War started on 26 March and lasted till 16 December 1971 which is celebrated as Victory Day in Bangladesh. There is a dispute along partisan line on who declared the Independence of Bangladesh. The Awami League claim Sheikh Mujibur Rahman while the Bangladesh Nationalist Party claim it was Ziaur Rahman.
The Bangla Academy is an autonomous institution funded by the Bangladesh government that fosters the Bengali language, literature and culture, works to develop and implement national language policy and to do original research in the Bengali language. Established in 1955, it is located in Burdwan House in Ramna, Dhaka, within the grounds of the University of Dhaka and Suhrawardy Udyan. The Bangla Academy hosts the annual Ekushey Book Fair.

Neelima Ibrahim was a Bangladeshi educationist, littérateur and social worker. She is well known for her scholarship on Bengali literature but even more so for her depiction of raped and tortured women in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War in her book Ami Birangana Bolchi. She was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1969, Begum Rokeya Padak in 1996 and Ekushey Padak in 2000 by the Government of Bangladesh for her contributions to Bangla literature.
Razia Khan Amin was a Bangladeshi writer, poet and educationist. She was also a journalist, theatre actor and columnist for newspapers. She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1997 for her contribution to education by the Government of Bangladesh.
Sardar Jainuddin was a Bangladeshi novelist. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1967 and Ekushey Padak in 1994 posthumously.
A. N. M. Serajur Rahman was a British journalist of Bengali Muslim descent and broadcaster. From 1960 to 1994, he worked for BBC World Service, and was the deputy chief of BBC Bangla Service before retirement.
Zulfiqer Russell is a Bangladeshi lyricist and journalist. He is currently the editor of the online news site, The Bangla Tribune. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Lyrics for the film Putro (2018). Rahman. He wrote the official theme song ‘Ektai Achhe Desh’ of the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh Independence sang by fifty renowned singers of Bangladesh.
Joy Bangla is a slogan and war cry used in Bangladesh to indicate nationalism towards the geopolitical, cultural and historical region of Bengal and Bangamata. It is also recognised as the national slogan of Bangladesh. It translates roughly to "Victory to Bengal" or "Hail Bengal".
