Jhonatan Luz dos Santos (born February 10, 1987), also known mononymously as Jhonathan, [1] is a Brazilian professional basketball player. He currently plays with Franca of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) from Brazil. [2]
Luz started his professional career in Spain with Málaga and later played for Guadalajara, Mérida before returning to Brazil in 2009. Following stints with Araraquara and Limeira, he joined Franca in 2012. [2]
Luz then also played for Palmeiras, Paulistano and Flamengo, before returning to Franca for a second stint in 2021.
In September 2023, Luz won the 2023 FIBA Intercontinental Cup with Franca. [3]

A 6 ft 3 in tall combo guard, he played high school basketball in Maryland and North Carolina and attended Gulf Coast Community College in Florida after he failed to academically qualify to play Division I basketball. After two years at Gulf Coast, Jackson transferred to Penn State, where he played his last two years of eligibility. After going undrafted in the 2007 NBA draft he started his professional career in Uruguay with Defensor Sporting. He has earned several accolades while playing in South America, including two MVP awards, multiple all-star selections and an LNB scoring title in 2010. Jackson won the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in 2023 and was named the tournament MVP.
