Jill Davie is an American chef. She is the chef-owner of the Mar Vista in Los Angeles, California.
Jill Davie grew up in Los Angeles. [1] She attended the University of California, Santa Cruz and the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). At the CIA, she worked at LuLu in San Francisco. [2]
In 1996, she became the chef de cuisine at Hans Rockenwagner's restaurant. She worked for Rockenwagner for three years. After leaving Rockenwagner, she was a visiting chef at Charlie Trotter's, Blackbird and Tru. [2]
In 2000, Davie started working at Josie, the eponymous restaurant of Josie Le Balch in Santa Monica. She became chef de cuisine at Josie in 2003. That same year, she appeared on the Food Network's Date Plate. [2] Davie appeared on the channel's Party Starters the following year. [3] In 2006, she opened the Mar Vista in Los Angeles with D. The James Beard Foundation Awards are annual awards presented by the James Beard Foundation to recognize culinary professionals in the United States. The awards recognize chefs, restaurateurs, authors and journalists each year, scheduled around James Beard's May 5 birthday. The media awards are presented at a dinner in New York City; the chef and restaurant awards were also presented in New York until 2015, when the Foundation's annual gala moved to Chicago. Chicago will continue to host the Awards until 2027.
