Methil is an eastern coastal town in Scotland. It was first recorded as "Methkil" in 1207, and belonged to the Bishop of St Andrews. Two Bronze Age cemeteries have been discovered which date the settlement as over 8,000 years old. Famous for its High Street having the most pubs per mile in Scotland, it was part of its own barony in 1614 and also part of the former burgh of Buckhaven and Methil. This burgh existed between 1891 and 1975. It is situated within a continuous urban area described as Levenmouth.
Christopher Edmund Kirkland is an English football coach and former professional goalkeeper who is now the head goalkeeping coach at Colne. As a player, he made 321 league and cup appearances in an 18-year professional career from 1998 to 2016, and won one cap for the English national team in 2006.

Sir Alexander Kirkland Cairncross was a British economist. He was the brother of the spy John Cairncross and father of journalist Frances Cairncross and public health engineer and epidemiologist Sandy Cairncross.
James Anton Blyth is a Scottish football goalkeeper and coach. He played for Preston North End, Coventry City, Hereford United, Birmingham City and Nuneaton Borough. Blyth also represented Scotland twice and was selected for their 1978 FIFA World Cup squad. He has since worked for Coventry City, Celtic and Middlesbrough as a goalkeeping coach.

She was a member of the Ladies National Association for the Repeal of the Contagious Diseases Acts.
Kirkland High School was a six-year comprehensive school in Methil that served the population in the Levenmouth area, Scotland. From January 2005 until June 2016 the head teacher was Ronnie Ross. In June 2012 Fife Council proposed that the school should merge with neighbouring Buckhaven High School to create Levenmouth Academy. The plans were approved in April 2014 and the new school opened to pupils on 17 August 2016. In September 2015 the student roll was 421, less than half of the roll of 900 the school had in 2000.
The Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs football program represents Southwestern Oklahoma State University in college football and competes in the Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). In 2011, SWOSU became a member of the Great American Conference. Prior to this, Southwestern Oklahoma State was a member of the Lone Star Conference from 1998 to 2010. SWOSU's home games are played at Milam in Weatherford, Oklahoma. The programs maintains an all time record of 471–486–37.
