The Jim Rudd Unit a.k.a. the Jim Rudd Transfer Facility is a state prison for men located in Brownfield, Terry County, Texas, owned and operated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. [1] This facility was opened in March 1995, and a maximum capacity of 612 male inmates held at various security levels.

The county was created in 1876 and later organized in 1904. It is named for Benjamin Franklin Terry, a colonel in the Confederate Army. Texas Department of Criminal Justice

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) is a department of the government of the U.S. state of Texas. The TDCJ is responsible for statewide criminal justice for adult offenders, including managing offenders in state prisons, state jails, and private correctional facilities, funding and certain oversight of community supervision, and supervision of offenders released from prison on parole or mandatory supervision. The TDCJ operates the largest prison system in the United States.

The prison was named for Texas political figure Jim Rudd.

Jimmy Dean Rudd, known as Jim Rudd, is an attorney and a Democratic former member of the Texas House of Representatives from Brownfield in Terry County in West Texas. He held the District 77 seat from 1977 to 1993. For his last term from 1993 to 1995, he represented District 80.

The Beauford H. Jester I Unit (J1) is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice substance abuse felony punishment facility (SAFPF) located in unincorporated Fort Bend County, Texas. The unit is situated at Harlem Road and Ken Drive, on about 940 acres (380 ha) of land, co-located with Carol Vance Unit, Jester III Unit, and Jester IV Unit which lie a little to its southeast. It is situated on the Jester State Prison Farm property. The current Warden is Monty Hudspeth, installed May 2012.

The Holliday Transfer Facility, is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice transfer facility for men located in Huntsville, Texas. Holliday is along Interstate 45 and .5 miles (0.80 km) north of Texas State Highway 30. The unit, on a 1,412-acre (571 ha) plot of land, is co-located with the Wynne Unit.
