Jim Zehringer (born October 16,1952) is the former Director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Ohio Department of Agriculture,who served in the cabinet of Ohio Governor John Kasich from 2011 to 2019. He served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011,and as a Mercer County Commissioner from 2002 to 2007. He is a retired politician and farmer.
Zehringer is a graduate of Fort Recovery High School,and calls Fort Recovery home. A former owner of Meiring Poultry and Fish farm,Zehringer has made a career out of agriculture. While in elected office,much of his agenda focused greatly on agricultural efforts,and for a time,he served as ranking minority member of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. [1] With Republicans winning the gubernatorial election in 2010,Zehringer was chosen to lead the Department of Agriculture by John Kasich. [2] In 2011 John Kasich appointed Zehringer to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. [3]
As director of ODNR,Zehringer oversaw many accomplishments for the department,including completing the new dam at Buckeye Lake two years early and $43M under budget, [4] starting the purchase of almost 60,000 acres of wilderness called AEP's RE-creation land, [5] millions of dollars invested in state parks starting with the $88.5M of capitol improvements announced in 2014, [6] and multiyear and lifetime hunting and fishing licenses. [7] Zehringer retired at the end of his term in 2019 [8] and Mary Mertz was appointed by incoming Governor Mike DeWine as the new director of ODNR.
Hocking Hills State Park is a state park in the Hocking Hills region of Hocking County,Ohio,United States. In some areas the park adjoins the Hocking State Forest. Within the park are over 25 miles (40 km) of hiking trails,rock formations,waterfalls,and recess caves. The trails are open from dawn to dusk,all year round,including holidays.

Grand Lake St. Marys State Park is a public recreation area located on 13,500-acre (5,500 ha) Grand Lake in Mercer and Auglaize counties,Ohio. Grand Lake is the largest inland lake in Ohio in terms of area,but is shallow,with an average depth of only 5–7 feet (1.5–2.1 m). The state park is open for year-round recreation,including boating,fishing,swimming and hunting. The park consists of the lake and park facilities scattered all around the shore intermingled with private property and a facility operated by Wright State University. It is west of St. Marys,and southeast of Celina,23 miles (37 km) southwest of Lima in the northwestern part of the state.
Caesar Creek State Park is a public recreation area located in southwestern Ohio,five miles (8 km) east of Waynesville,in Warren,Clinton,and Greene counties. The park is leased by the State from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,who in the 1970s erected a dam on Caesar Creek to impound a 2,830-acre (1,150 ha) lake. The total park area,including the lake,is 7,530-acre (3,050 ha).
Pymatuning State Park is a Pennsylvania state park covering 21,122 acres (8,548 ha) in Conneaut,North Shenango,Pine,Sadsbury,South Shenango,West Fallowfield and West Shenango Townships,Crawford County,Pennsylvania,in the United States. Pymatuning State Park is the largest state park in Pennsylvania and contains the 17,088 acres (6,915 ha) of Pymatuning Lake,three-quarters of which is in Pennsylvania and one-quarter of which is in Ohio. A three-mile (5 km) causeway extends between Pennsylvania and Ohio near the center of the lake. The lake provides fishing and boating year round. There are two natural areas,Clark Island and Blackjack in the park. The park is also home to the University of Pittsburgh's Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology. Like all Pennsylvania state parks,admission to the Pymatuning State Park is free. The northern access for Pymatuning State Park can be reached from U.S. Route 6 and the southern access is reached from U.S. Route 322.
Headlands Beach State Park is a public beach in Mentor and Painesville Township,Ohio,United States. It is the longest natural beach in Ohio and attracts two million visitors annually. The breakwall at the eastern end of the park,frequented by fishermen,is surmounted by the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Light. The park features a 35-acre beach for sunbathing,swimming,and beach glass hunting along with picnicking facilities and seasonal concessionaire.
Shawnee State Park is a 1,095-acre (443 ha) public recreation area surrounded by the 63,000-acre (25,000 ha) Shawnee State Forest in Scioto County,Ohio,United States. The park is in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains near the Ohio River in Southern Ohio on State Route 125,just north of Friendship.
East Fork State Park is 4,870-acre (1,970 ha) public recreation area located around the East Fork of the Little Miami River in Clermont County,twenty miles (32 km) southeast of central Cincinnati,Ohio,in the United States. It maintains the 33-mile "Steve Newman World-Walker" perimeter trail,camping,hiking,swimming,and boating opportunities. The state park has hosted junior and collegiate rowing races,including the US Rowing Youth National Championships. The park's main feature is William H. Harsha Lake,a 2,107-acre (853 ha) reservoir created in 1978. The lake's large earthen dam and smaller saddle dams are operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Paint Creek State Park is a 5,652-acre (2,287 ha) public recreation area located in Highland and Ross counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. The state park's central feature is a reservoir,1,148-acre (465 ha) Paint Creek Lake,which was created by the damming of Paint Creek. Construction on the dam started in 1967,and Paint Creek State Park was opened in 1972.
Jason Wilson is an American politician who served as a member of the Ohio Senate,representing the 30th District from his appointment in January 2007 to November 2011. He also served as the Director of the Governor's Office of Appalachia during the Kasich administration. Wilson is the son of former Ohio Senator and United States Congressman Charlie Wilson.

ODNR regulates the oil and gas industry,the mining industry,hunting and fishing,and dams,while maintaining natural resources such as state parks,state nature preserves,state wildlife areas,state forests,and state waterways. It was created in 1949 by the Ohio Legislature.
Mary Jane Thurston State Park is a 105-acre (42 ha) public recreation area one mile west of Grand Rapids in Wood and Henry counties,Ohio,United States. The state park lies along the south bank of the Maumee River near remains of the historic Miami and Erie Canal. It is named for Mary Jane Thurston,a schoolteacher from Grand Rapids who bequeathed land for the establishment of a park. The park's year-round recreation includes hunting,fishing,boating,picnicking,and camping.
Buck Creek State Park is a 4,016-acre (1,625 ha) public recreation area in Clark County,Ohio,in the United States,that is leased by the state of Ohio from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The state park's main feature is the C. J. Brown Reservoir,a flood control reservoir created by the USACE on Buck Creek as part of a flood control system in the Ohio River drainage basin. The park offers year-round recreation including camping,boating,hunting,fishing,swimming,picnicking,and hiking.
Dennis E. Murray Jr. is a current City Commissioner in the City of Sandusky. He served as the Mayor of Sandusky from 2014-2020 and can run to be Mayor again in 2022. Dennis is a former member of the Ohio House of Representatives,serving the 89th District from 2009 to 2012. Dennis announced that he will run for re-election of his commission seat. On Nov. 2,2021,Dennis won re-election of his commission seat.
Sean D. Logan is the former director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1990 to 2000. His district consisted of a portion of Columbiana County,Ohio. He was succeeded by Chuck Blasdel. Ohio Governor Ted Strickland appointed him as ODNR director in January 2007.
LaDue Reservoir is a reservoir located near Ohio State Route 44 and U.S. Route 422 in Auburn and Troy Townships in Geauga County,Ohio. Originally called the “Akron City Reservoir”,it was dedicated as the LaDue Reservoir on October 11,1961,in honor of Wendell R. LaDue. The Geographic Names Information System recognized four variants names,including Akron City Reservoir,Bridge Creek Reservoir,Ladue Reservoir,and Wendell R. Ladue Reservoir.
Cardinal Power Plant is a 1.8-gigawatt coal power plant located south of Brilliant,Ohio in Jefferson County,Ohio. The power plant has three units. Cardinal is co-owned with Unit 1 owned by American Electric Power's (AEP) subsidiary,AEP Generation Resources. Units 2–3 are owned by Buckeye Power,a utility cooperative. It began operations in 1967.
Lake Logan State Park is an Ohio state park in Hocking County,Ohio,United States. Lake Logan State Park is located in Falls Township,Hocking County,Ohio. Lake Logan Dam is directly accessible off State Route 664 just southwest of the county seat of Logan. Lake Logan State Park lies in the Hocking Valley,formed by the Hocking River. Lake Logan was created in 1955 with the construction of the Lake Logan Dam on Clear Fork Creek,a tributary of the Hocking River. Lake Logan is a 400-acre (160 ha) lake and is open to fishing,boating,ice fishing,ice boating and swimming.

Kiser Lake State Park is a public recreation area in Champaign County,Ohio,located four miles (6.4 km) northwest of St. Paris and 34 miles (55 km) north of Dayton. The 531-acre (215 ha) state park includes 396-acre (160 ha) Kiser Lake,for which it was named,and the 51-acre (21 ha) Kiser Lake Wetlands State Nature Preserve.
