Jimi Bertucci (born October 22, 1951) is an Italian Canadian singer, songwriter, musician and composer. [1] He is best known as the founding member, bassist and singer-songwriter for the 1970s pop-rock band Abraham's Children.
Jimi Bertucci was born in Serra San Bruno, Calabria, Italy and immigrated to Canada at the age of 5.
Still in his teens, he teamed up with a friend, guitarist Ron Bartley, to form a group called Just Us. Soon percussionist Brian Cotterill and keyboardist Bob McPherson were added to fill out the lineup. After a couple of name changes and a record deal, Just Us became known as Abraham's Children. As the band's principal songwriter, Bertucci penned their first national hit song called "Goodbye Farewell". Other hits followed including "Gypsy", "Thank You" and "Goddess of Nature". Shawn O'Shea was later added to the group as a second guitarist. [2] The band toured heavily and extensively throughout the United States and Canada to large enthusiastic crowds.
Bertucci later went on to become in-house writer and producer for United Artists Records, forming and working with bands like Angel and Space Patrol.
In 1982, he went solo and signed with the prestigious label A&M Records, releasing his self-titled album Jimi B., which received rave reviews and established him as one of Canada's best exports.
Although Bertucci was born in Italy he spent most of his childhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and has recorded in both English and Italian. He now divides his time between Los Angeles and Toronto. As a prolific songwriter and solo artist he continues to write and release new material.
On October 20, 2005 he was presented with the Certosa Award for his exceptional contribution to the Arts by the Serra San Bruno Association, an association representing his home town in Italy. [3] [4]
He is the brother-in-law of American actor Gary Graham, best known for his starring role as Detective Matt Sikes in the television series Alien Nation (1989–1990).
In 2009 Bertucci co-founded the Italian Walk of Fame in Toronto. [5]

He is credited with helping to define the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and 1970s. He has been referred to as Canada's greatest songwriter and is known internationally as a folk-rock legend. Lightfoot's biographer Nicholas Jennings said "His name is synonymous with timeless songs about trains and shipwrecks, rivers and highways, lovers and loneliness."
Randolph Charles Bachman is a Canadian guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was a founding member of the bands The Guess Who and Bachman–Turner Overdrive. Bachman recorded as a solo artist and was part of a number of short-lived bands such as Brave Belt, Union and Ironhorse. He was a national radio personality on CBC Radio, hosting the weekly music show, Vinyl Tap. Bachman was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2016.

Band of Gypsys is a live album by Jimi Hendrix and the first without his original group, the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It was recorded on January 1, 1970, at the Fillmore East in New York City with Billy Cox on bass and Buddy Miles on drums, frequently referred to as the Band of Gypsys. The album mixes funk and rhythm and blues elements with hard rock and jamming, an approach which later became the basis of funk rock. It contains previously unreleased songs and was the last full-length Hendrix album released before his death.
George Allen "Buddy" Miles Jr. was an American composer, drummer, guitarist, vocalist and producer. He was a founding member of the Electric Flag (1967), a member of Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys (1969–1970), founder and leader of the Buddy Miles Express and later, the Buddy Miles Band. Miles also played and recorded with Carlos Santana and others. Additionally, he sang lead vocals on the critically and commercially acclaimed California Raisins claymation TV commercials and recorded two California Raisins R&B albums.

William Cox is an American bassist, best known for performing with Jimi Hendrix. Cox is the only surviving musician to have regularly played with Hendrix: first with the experimental group that backed Hendrix at Woodstock, followed by the trio with drummer Buddy Miles that recorded the live Band of Gypsys album, and, lastly, The Cry of Love Tour trio with Mitch Mitchell back on drums. Cox continues to perform dates with the Band of Gypsys Experience and the Experience Hendrix Tour.
Jimi Hendrix (1942–1970) was an American guitarist and singer-songwriter whose career spanned from 1962 to 1970. His discography includes the recordings released during his lifetime. Prior to his rise to fame, he recorded 24 singles as a backing guitarist with American R&B artists, such as the Isley Brothers and Little Richard. Beginning in late 1966, he recorded three best-selling studio albums and 13 singles with the Jimi Hendrix Experience. An Experience compilation album and half of a live album recorded at the Monterey Pop Festival were also issued prior to his death. After the breakup of the Experience in mid-1969, songs from his live performances were included on the Woodstock: Music from the Original Soundtrack and More and Band of Gypsys albums. A studio single with the Band of Gypsys was also released.
Canadian blues is the blues and blues-related music performed by blues bands and performers in Canada. Canadian blues artists include singers, players of the main blues instruments: guitar, harmonica, keyboards, bass and drums, songwriters and music producers. The Italian Walk of Fame (IWOF) located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a walk of fame that acknowledges the achievements and accomplishments of successful persons of Italian descent. The walk of fame is located in the downtown Little Italy district. The IWOF consists of stars placed permanently and prominently in the sidewalk on the north side of College Street between Grace Street and Clinton Street.
