Jerreh Jallow (born 14 August 1994), professionally known as Jizzle [1] , is a Gambian Afro-pop artist. [2] He won the artist of the year award at the Whasahalat Music Awards in 2018. [2] [3] He has also been nominated for the All Africa Music Awards Best artist in 2016. [2] [3] [4] In 2014, he won the Best Upcoming Artist of the Year 2014 category at the Gambian Entertainment Awards. [4] He is very popular in the country, and is known for blending locally used languages. [5]

Originally aspiring to compete in soccer, Jizzle started in music in 2009 after watching his brother Essa, known as "Breaker," performing music. [2] [1]

He describes being influenced by Lil Wayne, Drake, Wizkid, Mr. Eazi, Davido, T-Smalls and Mighty Joe. [2] He is brand ambassador for Africell. [4]

Afrobeats is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing majorly out of Nigeria. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the "Afrobeats" umbrella.

Odi pop is a Kenyan music style which involves localized hip hop and draws influences from reggae and Dancehall music to build on an African Rhythm base performed in sing-along rap in heavy Kiswahili/Sheng language. There are several sub-genres stemming from this umbrella term including Gengeton, Dabonge, Debe and others. The music is spearheaded by Kenyan youths and most of them are pursuing their careers as music groups opposed to solo careers.

Ndivhuwo Elaine Mukheli, known mononymously as Elaine, is a South African R&B singer and songwriter from Pretoria. While studying law at the University of the Witwatersrand, she self-released her debut EP Elements in September 2019. The EP reached No. 1 on both the national iTunes and Apple Music album charts, making her the first independent female artist to do so.Elements was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) a year after its initial release, and in 2020 it was nominated for Best R&B/Soul Album at the South African Music Awards. Elaine was subsequently signed to Columbia Records in December 2020.

Muhammed Hakeem Mahoney born in Gambia, also known professionally as Gambino Akuboy, is an Afrobeats singer & songwriter, actor and screenwriter. Born in the Gambia, he now lives in the UK. Muhammed H. Mahoney is known for acting and film script writing and has written for Gambia national TV. In 2016 he won the Best Music Video at the Wah Sa Halat Music Awards in The Gambia and his music is frequently played on BBC radio. Muhammed H Mahoney together with Ousman Jarju founded RebelVZN, an independent multimedia production company, that produced short films like MEBET.
