Jo Shaw [1] FRSE holds the Salvesen Chair of European Institutions,one of the established chairs at the University of Edinburgh,and was director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities 2014-17. Between 2009 and 2014 she was dean of research of the College of Humanities and Social Science of the University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on citizenship in the broader European context. She is the author of a widely used textbook on European Union law.
After receiving a European Research Council Advanced Investigator Award to study citizenship in the former Yugoslavia (CITSEE),she was nominated for inclusion on the web site AcademiaNet, [2] which profiles world-leading women academics.
Before moving to Edinburgh she was professor of European law at the University of Manchester.
Professor Shaw is a fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, [3] Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Society of Edinburgh. [4] In 2015 the Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh,the Princess Royal,conferred the Chancellor's Award for Research on Professor Shaw in recognition of her outstanding contributions to research. [5] Since 2001 she has been a senior research fellow at The Federal Trust. She is co-director of the GlobalCIT Observatory at the European University Institute. [6] She was chair of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES) between 2003 and 2006.
Helena Ann Kennedy, Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws, KC, FRSA, HonFRSE, is a Scottish barrister, broadcaster, and Labour member of the House of Lords. She was Principal of Mansfield College, Oxford, from 2011 to 2018.

Dorothy Evelyn Miell is a professor of Social Psychology, and since March 2010 has been Head of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Vice-Principal, at the University of Edinburgh. Before moving to Edinburgh, she was Dean of Social Sciences at the Open University. Her research focuses on collaboration and communication patterns, recently in the context of creative endeavours.
Moira Katherine Brigid Whyte FERS is a Scottish physician and medical researcher who is the Sir John Crofton Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Edinburgh. She is the Director the Medical Research Council Centre for Inflammation Research and is Vice-Principal and Head of the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh.
Sir Charles Peter 'Pete' Downes is a British biochemist and chairman of Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh. Downes served as Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dundee from 2009 until 2018. He is the former Head of the College of Life Sciences and co-founder of the Division of Signal Transduction Therapy (DSTT) alongside Sir Phillip Cohen. Having contributed to research in the pharmaceutical industry for eleven years prior to joining Dundee, he is one of the top 15 most cited bio-scientists in the UK.

Paul Joseph Boyle, is a British geographer, academic, and academic administrator. He was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester between 2014 and 2019. He had been Professor of Human Geography at the University of St Andrews from 1999 to 2014, and Chief Executive of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) from 2010 to 2014. He took over as Vice-Chancellor of Swansea University at the end of the 2018/2019 academic year.
Alexandra Shepard is Professor of Gender History at the University of Glasgow. In 2018 Shepard was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in recognition for her work in gender history and the social history of early modern Britain. In 2019 she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
Sasha Roseneil is executive dean of the Faculty of Social & Historical Sciences at University College London where she is professor of Interdisciplinary Social Science. She is also a group analyst and a psychoanalytic psychotherapist. Roseneil became the vice chancellor of University of Sussex in August 2022, becoming Sussex's ninth vice-chancellor.
Hamish Marshall Scott, is a Scottish historian and academic. He was Professor of International History then Wardlaw Professor of International History at the University of St Andrews. Having studied at the University of Edinburgh and the London School of Economics, he began his career lecturing at the University of Birmingham.
Lesley McMillan, FRSE, professor of Criminology and Sociology at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), associate director of the Scottish Institute for Policing Research, and associate director of the Centre for Research in Families and Relationships based at the University of Edinburgh, researches gender-based violence and criminal justice systems. She influenced reforms in police training for best practice when dealing with traumatised rape or sexual violence survivors, and was behind a multimedia campaign "Erase the Grey" which challenges traditional views on gender-based violence.
