Joan Dukes (died April 6,2020) was an American politician who served as a member of the Oregon State Senate from the 1st and 16th districts from 1987 to 2005,representing northwest Oregon. [1] She was a member of the Democratic Party.
Dukes worked as Clatsop County Elections Supervisor from 1981 to 1983. [2] She then served a term on the Clatsop County board of commissioners from 1983 to 1987. Dukes was elected to Oregon's 1st Senate district in 1986 and was reelected in 1990,1994,and 1998. In 2002,she was redistricted into Oregon's 16th Senate district and won reelection there. [2]
In the Senate,Dukes advocated for a diverse set of issues,including transportation,pain management,and commercial fishing. [1]
Dukes resigned from the Senate in 2005,after being appointed to the Northwest Power and Conservation Council by Governor Ted Kulongowski. At the time of her resignation,she was the Oregon Senate's longest-serving current member. [2]

Youngs River Falls is a 54-foot (16 m) tall waterfall on the Youngs River in central Clatsop County,northwestern Oregon,United States. They are located about 10 miles (16 km) south of Astoria.
The Clatsop are a Chinookan-speaking Indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest of the United States. In the early 19th century they inhabited an area of the northwestern coast of present-day Oregon from the mouth of the Columbia River south to Tillamook Head,Oregon. The Tillamook State Forest is a 364,000-acre (1,470 km2) publicly owned forest in the U.S. state of Oregon. Managed by the Oregon Department of Forestry,it is located 40 miles (64 km) west of Portland in the Northern Oregon Coast Range,and spans Washington,Tillamook,Yamhill,and Clatsop counties. The Old Astoria City Hall,now known as the Clatsop County Historical Society Heritage Museum,is a historic building located in Astoria,Oregon,United States,that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building served as the city hall of Astoria from 1905 until 1939. It was the first location of the Columbia River Maritime Museum,from 1963 to 1982,and has been the Heritage Museum since 1985.

William Vance Rinehart was an American soldier who served as a Union Army officer in both the 1st Oregon Volunteer Cavalry Regiment and 1st Oregon Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War. He was later appointed as Indian agent at the Malheur Indian Reservation in eastern Oregon. Rinehart then moved to Seattle,Washington where he engaged in business and was active in state and local politics. He was elected to Washington state's first legislature,serving as a state senator from 1889 through 1890.
